My husband and I have narrowed the possibilities to two! She will either be named [name_f]Raina[/name_f] [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] or [name_f]Nova[/name_f] (blank). I can’t find a middle name that really clicks for me. Since [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is pretty unusual, I wanted a slightly more classic middle name without it being SUPER common. My surname is Stark. Some that I’ve been thinking about but aren’t sure about:
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (I actually like the double “V” sound)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (bit of a mouthful)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (my mom loves the two "N"s together)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] (I know, [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] is NOT common, haha, but we are looking for a musical theme like [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and DH doesn’t like [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] or [name_f]Melody[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] too weird to be paired with [name_f]Nova[/name_f]? DH likes is a lot, but I’m hesitant.)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Serenade[/name_f] (same as [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f])
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charmaine[/name_f] (DH doesn’t like)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] (DH doesn’t like)
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
I don’t like really common middle names like [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or trendy names like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (though very pretty) or [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. sigh Anyone have good suggestions? I feel overwhelmed and stressed and she’s due in three weeks!!
Thanks, [name_f]Lala[/name_f]! However, we want to stay clear of a “KA” sound (like in [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]) for [name_f]Nova[/name_f] since it reminds DH of Novocaine. I can’t use [name_u]Piper[/name_u] since it’s a close friend’s name and it would be weird. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f], do you think it’s too many “A” sounds?
I like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]!
What about,
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Stark
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] Stark
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] Stark
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] Stark
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] Stark
I really like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!
For musical themes…
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_u]Fifer[/name_u]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Celesta[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Minuet[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_u]Clair[/name_u] ( [name_u]Clair[/name_u] de lune? Kind of a stretch but might work)
My favourite is [name_f]Nova[/name_f] out of the three potential choices!
My thoughts on the combinations:
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is a lovely name, she has this delicate sound and I adore the links to astrology. Her ‘v’ sound is really soft which actually works with [name_f]Violet[/name_f]'s rather pronounced ‘v’ sound. I normally dislike the run of double letters but in this combination it’s effortless. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a gorgeous combination.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - I disagree with you, I think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a great combination. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a lovely wholesome name. She has a great sound and feels really rural. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] adds simplicity to [name_f]Nova[/name_f] creating a really soft choice. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] has a brilliant style and a simple choice.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] - Ugh hate the run of the double ‘n’ letter it just doesn’t work. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a gorgeous name but she almost feels cheesy. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] inspired name and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is associated with an exploding star this conjures up the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] story. The wise men follow the star to [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] the whole combination feels cheesy like a dodgy [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] name.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] - This feels really [name_m]OTT[/name_m]. [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] with [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is just crazy, I’d prefer [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] teamed with something more classic like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Serenade[/name_f] - Again this feels [name_m]OTT[/name_m], I understand that you like the music connotations but I think with a name like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] you need a more classic middle name. Which ultimately means that for me you won’t find a music name which works with [name_f]Nova[/name_f] thus I would save a music name for maybe a future child…?
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charmaine[/name_f] - Ugh I totally agree with DH I dislike [name_f]Charmaine[/name_f] known so many trashy [name_f]Charmaine[/name_f]'s it’s awful.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] - Again I really dislike [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] (I’m agreeing again with DH) she doesn’t work with [name_f]Nova[/name_f] either.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] she’s a lovely sweet name but I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] would have more punch next to [name_f]Nova[/name_f].
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] gets my vote
Or you could mn for a favourite singer…[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Barbara[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Celine[/name_f]…
I like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f] a lot, I prefer [name_f]Nova[/name_f] to [name_f]Raina[/name_f] personally. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Nova[/name_f] Medley? I think it flows better than [name_f]Melody[/name_f], although it isn’t really taming down [name_f]Nova[/name_f]… Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!!!
I’m going to have to run some of these by the hubs tonight! I really like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] Medley. I’ll have to definitely keep [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] in the running as well. I keep feeling like I’m overlooking a name out there…any other suggestions? This is helping so much!
Personally, I would pair [name_f]Nova[/name_f] with a classic (like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f]), but I do think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] has a lovely sound to it!
Hubs has chosen [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] Medley as his current favorites. Thanks, everyone, for helping us narrow it down and figure it out!
I definitely prefer [name_f]Nova[/name_f] to [name_f]Raine[/name_f] and think that it is a truly lovely name. Out of your list I like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Cappella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Symphony[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Opera[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f]??? Masculine??? I’ve heard of some men in other countries named [name_f]Nova[/name_f], but for me (and I think most) it’s a girly name. I can’t imagine it on a man, honestly. So that doesn’t deter me, and Novalee just sounds…contrived and tacky to me. But thank you for the insight!
I gave my husband homework to think of other musical terms or names he likes…so that’s on his plate now.
Unfortunately, [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] has been vetoed. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is the #1 contender at the moment.
This is a random thought, and sorry if it’s already been suggested, but perhaps [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] would appeal. It’s similar in sound to [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but has the musical connection to [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]; though, I don’t know how you feel about the double -a ending.
