It’s not my cup of tea to be so alliterative but more so, it is notable that you show hesitation. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mind it? Is the problem that you like the name a lot, but are unsure if you can ignore the consonance? I have observed that rarely do kids with cool names (eg. River) go by middle names as well. I don’t know that the middle name is an apt disguise for the alliteration if that’s really an issue. I’ll be interested to see what others suggest/what you decide!
I LOVE double initials, i.e. initials begininng with same letter, and actually have a theory that many successful or famous historical people have had double initials. I did it intentionally for one of my kids. So, “no,” i do not think it is too much.
[name_u]River[/name_u] is lovely! I don’t think the double R initials is too much, especially if the sounds of the names don’t repeat (think: [name_u]Courtney[/name_u] [name_m]Cox[/name_m], [name_f]Farrah[/name_f] Fawcett, [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] [name_m]Lohan[/name_m], [name_m]Pedro[/name_m] Pascal). I know a few people who have the same first and last name initial, and they haven’t had any issues with it. I actually think it’s pretty cool!
Based on your girls’ names, here are some middle names ideas:
Yes @kapaza usually I like both names starting with the same letter, but I thought because they both end in “R” as well it might be a bit annoying. It’s nice to get some feedback from both sides. Still not sure what I’ll do yet!
To me it depends on the surname. As much as I love alliteration, something like [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Renner[/name_m] (where the last name is also two syllables) is really hard to say; it sounds cheesy to my ear. Something with a longer last name, like [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] or [name_u]River[/name_u] Rodinger, are easier!
Some other nature-y ideas since I’m brainstorming…
[name_u]Rivers[/name_u] (could this ‘S’ make all the difference??)
[name_u]Forest[/name_u], [name_m]Forester[/name_m]
[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
[name_u]Bear[/name_u]
[name_u]Ocean[/name_u]
[name_m]Clay[/name_m]
[name_m]Leif[/name_m], [name_u]Leaf[/name_u]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_m]Stone[/name_m]
[name_u]Dune[/name_u]
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m]
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u]
[name_u]Rocky[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
Siris
[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]
[name_u]Wolf[/name_u], [name_m]Wolfie[/name_m]
[name_u]Night[/name_u]
[name_u]Ryder[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]
[name_u]Sky[/name_u]
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]
Best luck with this name and qualm! Your girls’ names are beautiful, too.
Hmm, I think it really depends on what the other sounds in your surname are like and how long the surname is? If it’s longer than [name_u]River[/name_u] and sounds distinctive, it could be fine.
For example, [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Rockefeller[/name_m] sounds okay, but [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Ritter[/name_m] would be too much for me
I think alliteration is fine! I actually really like alliteration. As @Indilee there are tons of people with alliterative first and surname like [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] [name_m]Lohan[/name_m], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u] [name_m]Cox[/name_m] etc also my grandad among many other men in my family have the first name R0bert with our R surname and no one mentions it. So honestly as long as the surname doesn’t repeat sounds on a major level along with [name_u]River[/name_u] then it’s fine obviously [name_u]River[/name_u] Rover wouldn’t be the best but [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Robertson[/name_m] would be lovely!!!
I don’t think alliteration with names are usually a problem Especially with such a common letter like R.
With [name_u]River[/name_u], I would go for a non-word middle name that is also masculine.I think avoiding names that start with R or end with -er would help too
I love the name [name_u]River[/name_u]! And the girls names are beautiful, the name will suit perfectly in your family!
I wouldn’t mind the double initial if you like the name go for it!
I was definitely against alliteration but we ended up calling our daughter [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], it was the only name we could agree on and when we finally decided I don’t think I then realised it was SS initials until later! Annoyed now that I didn’t use a B middle name as my grandad started the SBS in the military and that would of been cool
