Middle name for Riylei (Riley)

So We have a little girl on the way [name_f]September[/name_f] 26th! We’ve decided her name is gonna be Riylei, ([name_u]Riley[/name_u]). We just can’t seem to agree on a middle name for her. He wants [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and I want anything but that. Since her name is a unisex name I would like her to have a feminine middle name, one that’s sweet, and perfect. I just can’t seem to find one that I absolutely love. She’s our first, and I want her name to be perfect just like I know she will be. She’s a true blessing, and I want her name to express that. Our last name starts with W! Please help!
Thank you.

Riylei [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Faye[/name_f]

If I saw Riylei [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] on paper, I would automatically assume boy, even though they are both names used for girls.

I also have to say, spelling a name creatively is hard on the kid later on. Nobody knows how to say/spell it fairly often. I would stick with [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. I spelled one of my kids names differently and I wish I hadn’t.

I like the above suggestion of Riylei [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]. I also would suggest Riylei [name_f]Claire[/name_f], Riylei [name_f]Anna[/name_f], Riylei [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], Riylei [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and Riylei [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

And yes, I highly recommend you choose a more intuitive spelling. I would not connect “Riylei” to the name [name_u]Riley[/name_u] at all. The original spelling, [name_u]Riley[/name_u], is the best, but even [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f] or [name_u]Rylee[/name_u] would make your little girl’s life much easier.

I strongly suggest [name_u]Rylie[/name_u], [name_u]Rylan[/name_u], or [name_u]Riley[/name_u] as the pp suggested.

Riylei [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
Riylei Desirée
Riylei [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Davina[/name_f]
Riylei [name_u]Shea[/name_u]
Riylei [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
Riylei [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
Riylei [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
Riylei [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]

If you have to put the original spelling in brackets next to your respelling, it’s probably not a good respelling. I would go for [name_u]Rylie[/name_u], [name_u]Riley[/name_u] or [name_u]Reilly[/name_u].

Riylei…
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Giovanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Merida[/name_f]
[name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]

I agree with what everyone else has said in terms of spelling. [name_u]Riley[/name_u] is a very cute and spunky name, no need to play around with spelling too much.

My cousin’s daughter is [name_u]Rylie[/name_u], she spells it this way because she thought it looked more feminine than [name_u]Riley[/name_u], and hasn’t come across any pronunciation/spelling issues. Coincedentally, her other daughter’s name is [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]!

Here are a few sweet and feminine middle names you might like…

[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]

Congratulations on your upcoming little girl! So exciting!

Came here to say exactly what everyone else has already said. I would HIGHLY recommend choosing basically any spelling but that. [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Rylee[/name_u], and [name_u]Rylie[/name_u] are all better options.

Same! Riyley (I don’t even remember how to spell it) will be too hard on your kid. She would have to repeat and correct people every day, all her life. The IY looks way too much. Sorry.
I would go with [name_u]Riley[/name_u], or even [name_u]Rylie[/name_u] and [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f].

I agree with previous posters in strongly recommending that you do not use Riylei. I would in no way have connected Riylei in spelling or in pronunciation with [name_u]Riley[/name_u].

Same comment re spelling. Phonetically it looks more like rye-lay than rye-lee. The extreme creative spellings are passe at this point and come off a bit tacky.

Honestly, when I saw that spelling of [name_u]Riley[/name_u], I thought someone was playing a joke. I can’t get past it. It’s atrocious. I would use a feminine middle.

[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]

I feel the same about the spelling. Sorry, OP, but it kinda looks like someone scrambled up the letters. I said it [name_m]Rye[/name_m]-e-lay. I really like the [name_u]Rylie[/name_u] or [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f] spellings! I also agree about going with a feminine middle, it’s a good idea =]

Try these middles out:

I hope this helps! Congratulations on the baby girl!

Okay so everyone commenting I really don’t care if you like the spelling of her name or not because I love it, and she’s never going to have to spell it or write it or anything because she’s a dog. So y’all can chill out. I treat her like a child so to me she’s my child but she is in fact a dog. And if anyone cares we agreed on RIYLEI [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

You have to admit that you were quite misleading… there is a separate forum for [name_f]Pet[/name_f] Names.

Okay so everyone commenting I really don’t care if you like the spelling of her name or not because I love it, and she’s never going to have to spell it or write it or anything because she’s a dog. And it doesn’t bother me when people misspell her name when they talk about her because I know it’s not a common spelling So y’all can chill out. I treat her like a child so to me she’s my child but she is in fact a dog. And if anyone cares we agreed on RIYLEI [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Well I was unaware of that [name_f]Brenda[/name_f]. But i just wanted help picking a name and that’s how I talk about her like she is my baby, because she is. But all y’all are so opinionated and rude. So what if the spelling is different? It’s not the end of the world.

Oh sorry [name_f]Brenda[/name_f] that the spelling of my DOGS name upset you… not. I really don’t care. Having a basic name is atrocious to me because I want my babies to feel special. And you act like it’s a big deal to have to correct the spelling, kids that have long names that are spelled “correctly” sometimes still have to correct the spelling so what’s the difference, [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]? Your opinion is a joke :upside_down_face:

We are concerned about misspellings given to a HUMAN. If it was clear you were naming a dog, no one would bat an eye. It only matters when you’re naming a kid.
No one knew you were naming a dog, so maybe just lighten up and stop trying to say “GOTCHA!!” when literally everyone didn’t know the full story?

I’m aware that this post is about a pet but - I personally am also not a fan of misspellings for the purpose of uniqueness, but to each their own! No one can say with certainty that a child named Riylei will hate their name because of an obvious misspelling, or that a child named [name_u]Riley[/name_u] will love her classic spelled “correctly” name.

Celebrities name their HUMAN children things like [name_f]Apple[/name_f], [name_u]North[/name_u] and [name_u]Blue[/name_u] and it’s ok and even cute. No one bats an eyelash at [name_f]Renesmee[/name_f] or [name_f]Emberly[/name_f] but Riylei offends people? So strange.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] my two cents, not that anyone asked.

Exactly thank you.
