I’m entering term and am rapidly running out of time. I had originally been set on using Alexander as a middle name for Theodore, as it is a family name, but every time I put the names together, it just doesn’t sound like the name of my kid. I just don’t like it. And apparently it’s a really common combo, too.
I’d really like to pick something “unique” but not too out there. My brain is just such a scattered mush these days and I am now freaking out about the middle name ordeal lol.
Some names I like, for reference:
Beau
River
Finn/Flynn
Felix
Lawrence
Ender
Halstein
Kai
And some names I considered if baby had been a girl, for reference:
Willow
Elle
Rose
Rain
Elena
Dani
Two surnames: first one is English, starts with a C and is two syllables, second one is Norwegian, starts with an E, two syllables. I think because of the double-surname, a shorter second name would be better? Preferably of English and/or Norwegian descent, and bonus if it’s nature-themed.
Thank you so much
Oh, edit to add: we like Biblical names, but they’re all too common; Theodore was chosen for its timelessness and meaning. We travel a lot, and his cousins have mythology names. I don’t like uncommon/misspellings for the sake of being unique. I’m soo picky with names and need something that has meaning to me but also sounds good. So please, suggest everything you have!! xx
I do personally love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] but agree it’s too much with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and two surnames. I really like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] / [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] / [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] from your list
I also love biblical names! Though [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a tricky one for me, heh. I prefer [name_m]Theo[/name_m], but the middle names also work for your chosen name
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] [name_m]Joash[/name_m]
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] [name_m]Calgary[/name_m]
I tend to go shorter (1-2 syllables) for middle names with longer first names (3+ syllables), but that’s just my preference. While I love [name_m]Todd[/name_m] (personal reasons), I also tend to lean toward [name_m]Thor[/name_m] as a nickname over the incredibly popular [name_m]Theo[/name_m].
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Lex[/name_m] - a nod to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] if you want to stick to the family honor
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Kai[/name_m] - this has always been a top combo of mine as the mn is a nod to both family and nature in my case
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Robin[/name_m] - I also love this one for personal reasons
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Aatu[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Aren[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Asa[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_f]Bay[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Blu[/name_m] / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_f]Blue[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Cass[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Fen[/name_m] / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Fenn[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Finlo[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Fritz[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Lee[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Loch[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Loup[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Mikel[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Miro[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Otso[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_f]Sage[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Sewall / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Sewell[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Vesa[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Wild[/name_m] / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] / [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Zale[/name_m]
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Xander[/name_m] as well! It still honors family, has a more unique feel without being too out there…and similar in sound to [name_m]Ender[/name_m].
Should it be helpful I posted awhile back for 26 days of unique baby boy names. A new letter for each day of the week. In addition to the names on my lists there are also the names that people commented. A link for one of these posts is below. But if you wanted to look at names that all begin with the same letter, just follow the title format of this one, but plug in the desired letter instead.
I agree with previous posters that a less common variant of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would be a good solution. Something like Alexi, Alec, or Evander would flow.
But when I look at the names you like, I don’t see much in common with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I’m seeing some unisex names, nature meanings, and very short. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal faves from your list are Beau and Flynn. With that in mind, here are some other possibilities.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Brooks
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Dane
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Hart
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Nash
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Nolan
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Quinn
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Vaughn
