[name]Hi[/name] berries! I came across this site a couple of months ago and I’ve been looking every now and then, but since it’s only a short month away until our little one arrives, my husband and I decided we should probably get an idea of what his/her name will be! You all seem to really know what you’re doing, so I figured we could use some of your expertise!
[name]One[/name] of the names my husband and I are seriously thinking about is [name]Wren[/name]. It has a lot of meaning to both of us, and to us anyways, it’s one of those names that is adorable for a little boy but still sounds fine for a teenager/adult!
Our problem is that if we do use it, we have no idea what to use for a middle name! There aren’t really any family names that haven’t already been used by our siblings, as we are both the youngest in our families. And we don’t really have a certain style either. [name]Do[/name] you have any suggestions? Thank you for your time and help! It is greatly appreciated!
Since [name]Wren[/name] is sometimes used for girls too, I would use a definitely masculine middle name. I like [name]Wren[/name] for a boy, but he may need something to fall back on if he is having problems in school. [name]Just[/name] going to shoot out some ideas here.
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]David[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Levi[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Don[/name]'t know if any of these are your style, they are just the first that came to mind. Good luck!
As the only Wrens I know are girls how about [name]Lawrence[/name] with [name]Wren[/name] as a nickname? For middle names how about [name]Matthew[/name]? I’d definately want a two or three syllable mn with [name]Wren[/name].
And thank you, but [name]Wren[/name] actually can be used for a boy or a girl. There is a male character on Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars named [name]Wren[/name], and then there’s [name]Ren[/name] from Footloose! I think that it’s uncommon enough still, that people won’t associate it too strongly with a gender. (Not that that matters too much though. There are plenty of unisex names out there where you might assume it’s a boy or girl and it turns out to be the other. [name]Addison[/name] for example!) I think it just boils down to person preference.
[name]Wren[/name] is too feminine for me, I’d definitely use it as a middle instead of a first. I think that most people will automatically assume girl, sorry. It’s historically a female name, uncommon or not.
I’ve only ever come across [name]Wren[/name] for a girl so I think a long masculine middle name is going to be important, something like: [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Christian[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Quentin[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Roderick[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Hamilton[/name]?
[name]One[/name] syllable first names are tough! I think 3+ syllables are best but I do like the abruptness of a 2 syllable middle
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Phillip[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Evander[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Eli[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]
I’ve always loved [name]Wren[/name], boy or girl. The only negative feedback I’ve received for a boy was because of [name]Ren[/name] & Stimpy but that was an awesome show so I’m fine with it!
[name]Both[/name] those sites get a lot wrong so they are not the gospel on names
A [name]Wren[/name] is a bird. Birds can be male or female- same for [name]Robin[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Sparrow[/name], [name]Raven[/name]…
[name]Wren[/name] is a nature name and therefore does not have a gender. Is there a specific reason boys can’t be named after birds? I know a guy named [name]Raven[/name] and he does just fine. If you think about it [name]Wren[/name] doesn’t sound feminine at all; it actually has quite a harsh sound. I also find it interesting that “he’ll be mistaken for a girl!” is such a big deal to some when we can give girls masculine names like [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] without a second thought.
I like [name]Wren[/name] [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Wren[/name] [name]August[/name], [name]Wren[/name] [name]Solomon[/name], [name]Wren[/name] [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Wren[/name] [name]Isaiah[/name], [name]Wren[/name] [name]Evander[/name], and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name].
Last time I checked, nature names are genuinely unisex. The idea he will be mistaken for a girl is ridiculous, the name [name]Wren[/name] outside of name nerd communities such as this, is almost unheard of and would probably get a raised eyebrow and a “Huh?” reaction whether it was a boy or girl. People still make me repeat and spell [name]Rowan[/name]'s name for them on an almost daily basis, because they’ve never heard it before not because it’s a unisex name. I love [name]Wren[/name]/[name]Ren[/name] for a boy or a girl.
Yeah, haha, we do get that. Thankfully not as often as you’d think!
I liked someone’s suggestion of [name]Lawrence[/name], nicknamed [name]Wren[/name] I don’t see anything wrong with it for a boy either. Seems fairly unisex to me.
For some reason when I see the name [name]Wren[/name] I feel like the middle name [name]Forest[/name] or [name]Felix[/name] would work together well. I like the idea of an “F” middle name!
I know a teenager named [name]Wren[/name], but he spells it “[name]Ren[/name]”. To me, the “[name]Wren[/name]” spelling is feminine while any variation starting with an R is more masculine.
