Callum David is also on the list as our best “honoring family” option. We like it, but not sure we love it.
Callum Mason is another we both really like, but two of my closest friends named baby boys with the first name Mason in the last few months.
Callum James was another we liked earlier on that flows well, but we are leaning towards something more unique.
Saying that, we want something somewhat unique, but not overly unique since both first and last name aren’t extremely common in the US.
For awhile Luca was our top option as we love the name, but not sure we’d use it if we have another boy, so loved the idea of being able to use it. My wife has a minor concern that Callum Luca sounds feminine (not sure I agree) and we really want to give him a full name that leans on the stronger side.
How would you rank our top 4 options? Do any of them stand out as really nice or bad? And open to any thoughts on the concerns/specifics I shared.
In order of liking most to least:
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Parker[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] (although it comes last, I still like it!)
I’d say that [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] sounds the most masculine, but none sound feminine to me at all.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] certainly has a distinctly ‘traditionally masculine’ feel and a strong sound to it, if that’s important to you. I’ll just throw in the idea of [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Davis[/name_m], as this may still work to honour a [name_m]David[/name_m] for you, but [name_m]Davis[/name_m] feels more in line with the style you have.
I think 2 syllables is personally the maximum I’d go with such a long last name so I tossed [name_m]Everett[/name_m] out (maybe you pronounce it with 2 syllables though). Here are a few more suggestions:
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Rafe[/name_m] _____ (pronounced “Rayf” and is a short form of [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] and I think it goes fabulous with Callum!)
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
Thank you! We were thinking similarly about the 3 syllable [name_m]Everett[/name_m] comment. We’ve kept it in because it’s one of our favorite boy names, but might hold onto it if we have another boy. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] so nice suggestion! And the surname does not end with an “s”, it ends with an “a” and [name_m]Luca[/name_m] flows well with it.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] is great - it’s got energy and those ‘Ca’ sounds give it strength. It feels like a happy name, but with solidness too
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Parker[/name_m] is charming - it’s got a fresh, friendly feel
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] is nice - very [name_f]English[/name_f] feeling in vibe, though Callum Ellis does trip me over a little
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is strong but gentle, sharp but well rounded, established but fresh. I like it
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] is nice - solid and balanced. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]James[/name_m] is another safe option - classic and solid, but if you did want something more unique, [name_m]James[/name_m] might not be the one.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is my fave, followed by [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m]!
Not sure if you wanted any other options, but [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] came to mind
I think [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] is awesome, as is [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. However, I am all for honoring family with the middle name, so I also really like [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] for that reason.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] sounds like a great name to me. I love the meaning of the names together too “dove/peace” and “bringer of light” combine to be “peaceful bringer of light.” It gives me very ethereal vibes. Soft and calm, but not feminine.
[name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m]. It’s got a lovely flow to it. Still on the softer side to my ears, but I feel like [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] has a bit more edge to it.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] is my favourite! I think this name feels soft, wholesome and warm. I think [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] has a great sound and is very handsome. I also think with the meanings dove and light the name has a very angelic holy feel. In my opinion this name isn’t too feminine but I do not feel that just because your having boy just mean you have to give your son an all macho I’m a man name.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is my second favourite. [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is a handsome name that has this distinguished southern gentlemanly feel. I think [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] has a stronger sound if that’s something you’re aiming for. The overall name is very handsome and strong.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Parker[/name_m] is my third favourite. I think [name_m]Parker[/name_m] is a fun preppy choice that feels very fashionable. I think the overall combination is handsome with an [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] League feel.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] is my least favourite and that’s not because I dislike [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] I actually love [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] just not with [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I’m not sure why but I find the two names together very trippy a complete tongue twister for me.
[name_m]Ellis[/name_m] did make me think of [name_m]Davis[/name_m]. [name_m]Davis[/name_m] honours your family name [name_m]David[/name_m] but combines that ‘is’ sound of [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] along with that first name as surname vibe. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] sounds really handsome.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] is a wonderful idea! I really like it! It sounds friendly, harmonious and very handsome. If it is a family name, it shines even more!
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] would be great too. [name_m]James[/name_m] is a classic, you can’t go wrong with it!
I would rank your top 4 (favorite to least favorite):
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] - [name_m]Charming[/name_m], elegant and happy!
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Parker[/name_m] - I think it flows slightly better than [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. I like both middle names equally.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Luca[/name_m] - I love [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], but I never fell for [name_m]Luca[/name_m]. It flows well, though.
Overall, I would rank [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]James[/name_m] on top, followed by [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Ellis[/name_m]. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Mason[/name_m] is probably my least favorite but it’s difficult to select a least favorite. Your list is really nice!
