What do you think of the middle name [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]? We are big [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] fans so to us it is awesome, but what if she didn’t love it like we do? Does anyone have experience being named after a fictional character?
First names we would use with [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]:
[name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
I think as a middle name it’s fine. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a name found in Greek mythology and [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s The [name_u]Winter[/name_u]'s Tale so it does have a history other than [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].
I love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] as a first or a middle, because of the HP connection. It gives it a strong and intelligent vibe imo. I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] (too much [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]?) would be awesome!
I named my daughter [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] last year, so clearly I’m biased towards it, but I think it’d make a fabulous middle! I second the lovely [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].
As a previous poster said, the name has plenty of history (including a 1st-century saint), which I often disclose when asked about my daughter’s name (even though Ms. [name_m]Granger[/name_m] is the main reason we chose it). So far, we haven’t had much issue with it, aside from lots of HP comments and some mispronunciations from people who (surprisingly) haven’t heard of the series. In the middle spot, I think it’d be especially unexpected and easy to wear.
Go for it. Enough people have given their daughter the first name [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], or named their kid after other books/video games that I think it’s fine, and it will be okay if she isn’t as into the books as you are.
I share a name with my mom’s favorite book series. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it isn’t the primary reason my parents chose the name, I enjoyed reading the books as a kid and ‘seeing myself’ in the adventure.
