I’m really loving [name_f]Xenia[/name_f], but am getting stuck on the middle name(s). I like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] for a middle, but they don’t really flow well. I’m thinking maybe another name between them would bridge the gap? Can you help me brainstorm?
Some other names I like are below. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to pull from them or elsewhere.
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeleia[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
I know it’s not very much but it’s hard to find something as I was trying to stay away from names that are too long, end in -a, begin with a ‘j’ sound or have a ‘v/w’-sound in it.
OK, so back to the middle name for [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] drawing board.
I need something classic and recognizable to off-balance the unusualness of [name_f]Xenia[/name_f]. I’d love more ideas!
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] - like it, but doesn’t flow with last name.
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
???
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] - i think the [name_f]Eve[/name_f] can be a compromise to [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. It’s classic yet unique enough.
I find it a little too harsh. I love the long regal names, though, so a one-syllable name like [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is a real adjustment for me. I never realized how many girls names end in an A and so can’t go well with [name_f]Xenia[/name_f]! I’m really grateful for people like you helping me brainstorm!
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] isn’t seeming to sit correctly with me and I think I’ve figured out why. Maybe.
I like [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] has the right flow, even though I don’t like the name. And with that I realized both have the emphasis on the last syllable. I think that’s what we need! 2 syllable (though some 3s and 4s work), not ending in A, last syllable emphasized. [name_m]How[/name_m] can I find names like that?
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is very pretty
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Evelynn[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (kuh-[name_f]RIN[/name_f]) (too much with both names starting with the K sound, I think)
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
Fellow Xenia lover here! I’m dying to hear how you got your partner on board. Mine has grudgingly agreed to use it, as long as she goes mostly by her middle name. He foresees pronunciation difficulties, but I think it’s too stunning to pass up.
Of your current choices, my favorite is Xenia Irene for sure. Yes the vowels run together slightly, but it’s just beautiful. Irene is so stately and elegant but also warm, just as Xenia is. Both have a Russia-by-way-of-Greece thing going on, and a Christian thing but with this mysterious rich Russian flavor, and the EE sounds and N sounds are mirrored.
Oh, and are you set on Genevieve? If yes, I’d say Irene is probably too much EE. Something with simple open sounds would better contrast X and G imo…

[name_f]Xenia[/name_f] is great and I really like [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I quite like [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] too.
That’s my favorite, too! But I saved it from the list when he nixed it. I just read out loud one Irene biography after another to show how great it is. LOL! He prefers Iryna, but that just won’t work with the A at the end. I think there’s a good chance he’ll come around. His big concern is that Irene feels old to him, which I obviously disagree with!
I have been talking about the name Xenia for years. I think it’s normalized it. I love it so much and light up with it that I think that helps, too. And we know several people with a variation of the name as well, so I’m not the only contact point for it. When I include other names in the list, which I do and am still actively seeking, nothing really fits us or our family from the list quite so well and we come back to it. But he’s also giving me a bit more leeway right now since we don’t know gender, so it will be interesting to see if anything changes for him if we find out that we do have a girl.
I’d love to be another contact point for your other half to help you normalize the name, too! What middle name are you planning?

I really like Genevieve, but I decided to give it up as it just wasn’t working. And I love Xenia Irene, so I don’t have any motivation to revive it right now. I will be reconsidering them all if he really doesn’t like Irene, though.
