Middle Name to honor a Julie

My husband and I are expecting a son and we would like to find a middle name that honors my mom. As of now I believe his first name will be [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and we also have a 2 syllable last name. My mom’s name is [name_u]Julie[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. Obviously the first name that comes to mind is [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. Unfortunately my husband is not a fan of the name, he feels it is too feminine. My next choice is [name_u]Jules[/name_u], but again, the hubs isn’t sold on it!

Any other ideas?! We’re open as far as ways to honor my mom (for example if this baby would have been a girl, we might have used my mom’s favorite flower as a middle name).

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] has three syllables… it’s too bad your husband isn’t on board - it’s a gorgeous name that’s rising fast for boys!

[name_m]Judson[/name_m], [name_m]Julius[/name_m], [name_m]Jubal[/name_m], [name_m]Arjun[/name_m], or maybe something with a [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sound for Julie? Such as… [name_u]Leland[/name_u], [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Leander[/name_m] (here you get Lie from [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] in there).

Haha, you are so right that [name_m]Julian[/name_m] had 3 syllables! Serious brain fart! That was my problem with a different name we were discussing! Haha!

Frankly unless you go with [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Julianus[/name_m], [name_m]Julius[/name_m], [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_m]Julio[/name_m] it really doesn’t count as honouring a [name_u]Julie[/name_u]. I really feel like you should be more insistent with your husband: after all, it’s only a middle name and unless he absolutely hates it it makes no sense for him to stop you from honouring your beloved mother.

The simpler alternative: using your mother’s surname as his middle name.

What about [name_m]Julius[/name_m]? Which is the proper male version of [name_u]Julie[/name_u].
Or [name_f]July[/name_f]? Jooley, [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_m]Julen[/name_m], [name_m]Juliano[/name_m], [name_m]Julio[/name_m]

[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Julius[/name_m] sounds like a winner to me, too! I also like the idea of using your mom’s surname, married or maiden.

[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is a great name, and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] really does seem like the most intuitive and logical choice.

Maybe your mum has a favourite singer, or a favourite place that you could use as a middle name? Or perhaps her maiden name? You could even let her help choose the middle…
