Middle name to honor the mothers

First post here.

We’re expecting and I think I’d like to honor our moms with our choice of middle name if baby ends up being a girl (won’t find out until baby’s here). My dilemma is how to create a mn that honors a [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and a [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. I’m OK with a meaning based honorific but I do think I would like it to start with J so the link is a little clearer. Other possibilities would be to use their middle names ([name_f]Marie[/name_f] & [name_f]Arla[/name_f]) or maiden names (Timmer & [name_u]Ripley[/name_u]) in some form.

The best option I’ve come up with so far is [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is another option, playing off the “wood” meanings of the last names.

We haven’t settled on a first name yet but it will probably be fairly unusual so I don’t want the middle to be too crazy (that way she could go by the middle if the uniqueness of the first name doesn’t sit well with her when she gets older).

Any thoughts??

[name_f]Jeune[/name_f] means young in [name_m]French[/name_m]. It’s close to [name_u]Joan[/name_u] in spelling and style, but has a similar meaning to [name_f]Jill[/name_f] (youthful).

It might not be immediately noticeable but using letters in the middle of their names like (J)ill and ([name_u]Jo[/name_u])an can make cute combinations like [name_f]Ilana[/name_f]/[name_f]Lana[/name_f].

You could also use [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] as a combination of [name_f]Marie[/name_f] & [name_f]Arla[/name_f].

Hmmm, those are definitely combinations I did not think of. I think [name_f]Jeune[/name_f] might be a little on the too unique side and [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] is not really our style (but a really good combo suggestion). I’ll have to play around with the other letters and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the ideas!

If [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] is not your style, I doubt [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] ([name_f]Jill[/name_f]+”an” in [name_u]Joan[/name_u]) is, but I though I’d suggest it just in case:). It also shares the same meaning as [name_f]Jill[/name_f]. Other ideas…

[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] - “[name_u]Jo[/name_u]”an + [name_f]Mar[/name_f]”ie”
[name_f]Lacie[/name_f] - Ar”la” + [name_f]Mar[/name_f]”ie”
[name_u]Laurie[/name_u] - Ar“la” + Ma”rie”
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] - “A”rla + “[name_f]Mar[/name_f]”ie, sounds similar to [name_f]Arla[/name_f] and shares much of the same meaning to [name_f]Marie[/name_f]

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] could also work as a nod to [name_f]Arla[/name_f], or [name_u]Riley[/name_u] as a nod to [name_u]Ripley[/name_u].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].

Sorry if some of these are too much of a stretch

Lillian (Using Jill and Joan)
Jemma (Using the J of Jill and Joan and the sounds of Timmer)
Jemima (see above)
Amalia (Using Marie and Arla)
Tilly (Using Ripley and Timmer)
Remy (Using Ripley and Timmer)
Jay (since Joan and Jill both begin with J)
Jonielle/Janelle (combining Joan and Jill )

Some names that can be spelled out of the letters of Joan and Jill

Lila
Lola
Joni
Nola

Some names that can be spelled using the letters of Arla and Marie:

Elara
Mara
Aimee (almost)
Aria
Ariel

Some names that can be spelled out of Timmer and Ripley

Tyler
Emmy
Remy
Terri/Terry
Mimi
Rey

Thanks for the great suggestions everyone! I’m thinking [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Janelle[/name_f], and [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] might be contenders from your suggestions. I also think just [name_u]Arie[/name_u]/[name_u]Ari[/name_u] might work (from [name_f]Arla[/name_f] & [name_f]Marie[/name_f]). If anyone has any other ideas feel free to jump in.

Sorry I’m not sharing much about names I like-we don’t discuss names with people before baby’s birth and I would hate family to find out our secret from Google. ” If it helps we have 2 kids already- [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] & [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] “Zippy” [name_f]Joy[/name_f].

Maybe combine [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Arla[/name_f] to make [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Marla[/name_f], [name_f]Marlene[/name_f], or [name_f]Marlena[/name_f].

I wonder if anyone has suggested [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]? I apologize if they have.

[name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Arla[/name_f] could be combined to to make the name [name_f]Marla[/name_f] as a middle name.
