Middle names for Agustín?

So DH has given up on pushing for [name]Ignacio[/name] is this baby is a boy. He does want us to consider Agustín, though. I like Agustín more than [name]Ignacio[/name], and am already hoping to use it for a middle name if DH will agree to Félix. But I am open to going with Agustín if DH won’t agree.

So, I need some middle name ideas for Agustín. I like Agustín [name]Ulises[/name], but I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about middle name options yet. Any suggestions? We definitely want it to be a Spanish name.

We have similar taste, I used to have [name]Emmanuel[/name] [name]Augustin[/name] and [name]Ulysse[/name] [name]Augustin[/name] as combos!

[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Antonio[/name]
[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Marcel[/name]

[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Rafael[/name]
Agusin [name]Reynaldo[/name]
[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Solomon[/name] (I think the “een” and “on”)
[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]
[name]Agustin[/name] [name]Clemente[/name]

Agustín [name]Cruz[/name]

Agustín [name]Francisco[/name]
Agustín [name]Hector[/name]
Agustín [name]Jorge[/name]
Agustín [name]Luis[/name]
Agustín [name]Mateo[/name]
Agustín [name]Pedro[/name]
Agustín [name]Rafael[/name]
Agustín [name]Salvador[/name]
Agustín [name]Ramiro[/name]
Agustín [name]Ruben[/name]
Agustín [name]Pablo[/name]
Agustín [name]Miguel[/name]

Agustín [name]Felipe[/name]
Agustín [name]Leandro[/name]
Agustín [name]Javier[/name]
Agustín [name]Lazaro[/name]
Agustín Noé
Agustín [name]Sancho[/name]
Agustín [name]Vidal[/name]

Why not Agustín [name]Ignacio[/name]?! Then you both can be happy ;).

What about [name]Agustin[/name] [name]Elias[/name]? [name]Elias[/name] is my favorite Spanish boys’ name. I don’t know that it has Spanish origins, but it’s very usable in Spanish culture, I think.

Here are some more ideas.
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Vicente[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Ramon[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Matias[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Fidel[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Joaquin[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Ezequiel[/name]
[name]Augustin[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name]
Augustin Orlando
Augustin Enrique
Augustin Francisco
Augustin Jago
Augustin Santino

Thanks for these ideas - I haven’t considered most of the these names because we were always looking for first names that don’t have an “r” in them (pronunciation issues). But I am open to an “r” in the middle name. I have to run right now, but I’ll be back later today to comment.

So on first glance, I am liking:

Agustín [name]Cruz[/name]
Agustín [name]Isidro[/name]
Agustín [name]Fernando[/name]
Agustín [name]Fidel[/name]
Agustín [name]Efra[/name]ín
Agustín [name]Federico[/name]
Agustín Andrés
Agustín [name]El[/name]ías
Agustín [name]Felipe[/name]
Agustín [name]Mateo[/name]
Agustín [name]Ulises[/name]

and of course Agustín [name]Ignacio[/name] and Agustín Félix are options.

I’ll run these by DH and hopefully narrow it down to a few options soon.

After a quick chat, DH likes:

Agustín [name]Federico[/name]
Agustín [name]Felipe[/name]
Agustín [name]Ignacio[/name]
Agustín Oscar

Probably [name]Felipe[/name] sounds best because our last name ends in -o, so not repeating that ending with the middle would be nice. I really like [name]Federico[/name], though, on its own. Any thoughts on these four options?

All beautiful and dignified names.

I think [name]Agustin[/name] [name]Oscar[/name] repeat too many sounds, so would strike that. Otherwise, I think a 2-syllable name fits best (like your second son’s [name]Tomas[/name]). Did he/you care for any of the shorter options, like [name]Miguel[/name], [name]Carlos[/name] or [name]Hector[/name]?

Saying [name]Federico[/name] Moreno, [name]Felipe[/name] Moreno and [name]Ignacio[/name] Moreno quickly is a little bit of a tongue-twister. But if you love one of them, it’s fine-- no one really says all three together very often.

I think you’re right - [name]Oscar[/name] doesn’t flow well. I don’t think [name]Felipe[/name] is a tongue-twister all together, but I agree that [name]Federico[/name] and [name]Ignacio[/name] may be moreso. I do like [name]Cruz[/name], [name]Fidel[/name], and Andrés that are shorter, but DH didn’t like them. (Andrés is his middle name and he doesn’t like the idea of naming a kid after him, even if it wouldn’t necessarily be for that purpose.) He has relatives named [name]Carlos[/name] and [name]Hector[/name], and we don’t want to repeat family names, so those are out. And Jorge is out because my little sister is named Jorunn and we’ve been calling her Jorge for years, ever since our family moved to the border of Mexico. I like Noé, but it’s too close to Lucía’s middle name.

I do like Agustín Raul. Hmm…

I’m open to more one and two syllable ideas.

Ok, 1-2 syllable Spanish middle names, preferentially avoiding the letter R:

[name]Cesar[/name]
[name]David[/name]
Dimas
[name]Efrain[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] (I know it’s your other male name choice, but it works very well)
[name]Hernan[/name]
[name]Ivan[/name]
[name]Jesus[/name]
[name]Leon[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Luis[/name]
[name]Manuel[/name]
[name]Ramon[/name]
[name]Roldan[/name]
[name]Santos[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Vidal[/name]

You think Agustín Félix M0ren0 works? I’m so used to thinking of the names flipped around that it sounds awkward to me.

(thanks for your help, blade!)

I do indeed.

I was going to suggest [name]Agustin[/name] [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Agustin[/name] [name]Raul[/name]!
[name]Victor[/name], [name]Jose[/name], [name]Rafael[/name] also came to mind.

Thanks, guys. I think we’re just going to go with Agustín Félix as our other boy name option. I like the sound of Agustín [name]Felipe[/name] and Agustín [name]Raul[/name], but I just can’t not choose Félix. This is our last baby (woo hoo!) so I’d rather use the names I really like.

Though, I’m still hoping DH will agree to Félix as the first name. I love that it’s spelled the same in both languages and doesn’t get mixed up with a girl name ([name]Augustine[/name]). I think it’s just easier to have Félix first. I’m proposing that we do Félix Agustín, but actually use both names together frequently, so his name isn’t “just” Félix. But I think I would be okay with Agustín Félix, too. Thanks again!

congrats-- it’s a lovely and distinctive name.
