Middle names for Elodie

If this baby is a girl I keep coming back to [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] as a first name. I think it is probably the one  I’m struggling with middle names though.

Some ideas I’m pondering:

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] (too much?)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] (after [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u])
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] (DH can’t decide if he likes it or not)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (is two flower names too much?)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Nesta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] (ditto [name_f]Marigold[/name_f])
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] (ditto!)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] (I’m 50/50 on this combo)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] Hespera

Most of the names I lean towards in the middle spot are one or two syllables. I liked both [name_u]Rue[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u] which have been vetoed. In general, there are loads of flower names I love, but does it bother people to see two together? Opinions on these names and other suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Lotus[/name_f]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t think two middle names are too much. I need to tell you that some celebrity named their daughter [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Lotus[/name_f]. So, if this bothers you, chose [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

I didn’t know [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] was a flower!
I really like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].
Other suggestions:

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] are my favorites from your list, followed by [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. If you want something shorter, what about [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]?

Thanks sorceress, do you know who?

Before I saw your list the first name that came to me was [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. From your list I also love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and while I’m not a fan of the [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]/[name_f]Lotus[/name_f]/[name_f]Plum[/name_f] combos I do like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f].

Judieariel, it’s not a flower name per se but it means “marsh flower”

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] are my favourites from your list.

Davisellu, I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f] but DH does not :frowning:

Thanks Kirstenlouise. Looks like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is getting a lot of love! I do like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] but I’ve had it on my list for so long and looked at it so many times it doesn’t seem quite as fresh to me as it used to  I think I need to write it down on paper or something and see if I can get that feeling back.

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] is so cute and spunky!

Thanks [name_f]Erin[/name_f] Not sure if I can convince my husband about it but I think so too!

I forgot. Sorry. You might find information on topic Comprehensive Celebrity [name_u]Baby[/name_u] List 2013 Part 2, but that was more than two months ago.

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] doesn’t really mean marsh flower:

It’s a really pretty name! I particularly like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]

Thanks Svea. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know why that’s listed as the meaning on nameberry? Confusing!

As far as I can see it looks like there are two origins: Greek (marsh flower/white blossom) and Germanic (saint/wealth).

Actually it was [name_u]Randy[/name_u] Spelling who named his daughter [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].

My favorite is [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u].

I also love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f], and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u].

I really love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! Sweet and spunky yet flowery and classy! I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] Bylthe, [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u], and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]!

Why not do [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] after [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]?

Halfkoreangirl, I have thought about that too. My middle name is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] after my grandmother [name_u]Jean[/name_u] so it is a family name of sorts. I am just not sure if I love it enough, but [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has definitely grown on me over the years

Lululemonee - thanks for that info!

Christinaroot - [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] is a pretty suggestion, thank you.

Having thought about this a bit more I think I am leaning towards the stronger middle name options - [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Isis[/name_f] (a combination I didn’t include the first time but it was on my list before). Any thoughts on those two?

I think you should use [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Isis[/name_f] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], you love both these names so much and they’re both lovely. I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Isis[/name_f] the best, but as they’re [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] names I’d go with the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] that appeals to you the most. [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of hunting, fertility, childbirth and the moon, versus [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of magick, nature, children and slaves (and other unfortunate ones).
