So we’ve decided on naming our daughter [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (not the most original choice, I know, but we love the name!) and now we’re looking for a beautiful, unusual middle name that flows well with the first name.
So far we’ve come up with:
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (too common, so we might have two middle names if we do decide to have [name_f]Rose[/name_f], like [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f])
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
We’ve just run out of ideas. Please help!!! Thank you in advance!
I think [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] is a really great combination. It’s nice to have something a little different like this in the middle with a popular first name. I would avoid [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as half the [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]'s out there will have one of these in the middle.
I like [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] from your list. I’m not fussed about the length: even with a 3-syllable surname the full name comes in at 10 total syllables, and you really have to go over that before I start getting skittish about length.
If it’s a short surname, then all the better because a very long first with two very short names gets awkward.
With a very common first, I do think it’s nice to see a more unusual middle, or one with a twist. Some other ideas -
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (a flower name with that Z sound that probably won’t be on every girl’s birth certificate)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] (same)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (unusual floral choice with the familiarity of [name_f]Mary[/name_f])
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] (both of these less expected that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f])
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] (definitely unusual)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (B’s in both names, very nice)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] (this moonglow name is so nice next to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (keeps the “loo” sound of [name_f]Louise[/name_f] while being less common as a middle)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Liesel[/name_f] (keeps the “eeze” sound of [name_f]Louise[/name_f] while being more unusual, a little L heavy though)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (more grown-up than [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f])
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (looks beautiful and sounds beautiful)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f] (similarity to [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] in one)
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] ([name_f]Cecily[/name_f] has the playfulness of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] while being far less common)
I think it’s great that you want an unusual middle, but none of your choices sound unusual to me. I think something like these would be more along the lines of unusual. There are some great suggestions in the other posts too!
