I’m trying to find middle name options for the only two first names Hubby likes at the moment, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (his favorite) and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. Our last name is Th0mps0n so I’d like something that flows well but that is not too long as our last name is rather long and so is the name [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I’ve got some middle name ideas but I’m not entirely hooked on one. Hubby only wants one middle and for some reason hates the idea of two middle names. Otherwise he hasn’t given much input on middle names.
Middles I’ve considered:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] - after my great grandmother
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] - my grandma’s middle name was [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] - a variation of my mom [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] and my grandma [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
Some other middle options I’ll add to my list:
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
I misread [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as [name_u]June[/name_u] at first and though “hey that sounds good with both” so I’m gonna suggest [name_u]June[/name_u]. I like both [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].
I would use a shorter middle (not the 3 syllable) because [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] has a long 3 syllable sound and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] has 4 syllables (so no, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]). I do love both names. Which of the family names is most meaningful to you? All my kids have family middles (and my oldest daughter’s first name is also family) and although I wanted it to flow nicely, I picked the names with the most meaning to us. If you are just going on sound and all family names are equal, then I would go with [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are somewhat popular and your last is common, so I’d do the most uncommon for the middle.
Also, I’m totally in agreement with your husband with one middle for your daughter. If she wants to change her last name when she gets married, then she could add her maiden as a second middle.
