Middle names for Lachlan?

We are expecting baby #6 this summer. He will join four brothers and a sister. We have obviously used our previous favorite boys’ names already. And, the thought of just using a name that was leftover on one of his brothers’ baby name lists bugs me. I don’t know why it does, it just does. Anyway, we recently came across the perfect first name. And, very importantly, to me, one that hadn’t crossed our radar as we named his older brothers…[name]Lachlan[/name]. [name]Lachlan[/name] is also a great fit for us because half of dh’s family has viking roots, so the name’s meaning has real meaning for us.

Okay, now to the question, middle names for [name]Lachlan[/name]? I am out of fresh ideas! Names we will not consider due to them already being in use with his brothers and/or cousins are:
[name]Jason[/name], [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Jackson[/name], [name]Isaiah[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Landon[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Lennox[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Karl[/name], [name]Donald[/name], [name]Parker[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Jeremy[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] or [name]Justin[/name]. Names that end with an L or double L ([name]Mitchell[/name], Dashell, [name]Lionel[/name], etc) are also out as they wouldn’t work well with our last name.

The good news, that leaves a whole lot of names out there. The bad news, we aren’t at all sure what to use and I really don’t want to just pull out his brothers’ old baby name lists and take a left-over off of one of them. It’s very important to us that names have meaning but [name]Lachlan[/name] itself fufills that for us so we are open to just about any middle name as long as we like the sound and flow of it with his other names.

Please help with middle names for [name]Lachlan[/name]! Your suggestions are very appreciated!

Thanks for your response to my [name]Lachlan[/name] thread! I enjoyed reading the reasons that you love the name. For us, the middle name paired with [name]Lachlan[/name] would need to be a family name or biblical name. Here is a short list of what we have considered:

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Colin[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Vaughn[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Elias[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Silas[/name]

Husband wouldn’t go for these but I love:
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Sage[/name] (“Wise Warrior”)

I’m curious to see more suggestions.

I love [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Silas[/name]. That’s one we’ve tossed around for a few weeks, I think it’s a great name. I just don’t know that it’s ‘the’ name. And I do like [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] very much! We used [name]Isaiah[/name] for another one of our sons middle names and I think it flows just as well.

I really hope you do use [name]Lachlan[/name]! It’d be nice to know another little [name]Lachlan[/name] was out and about in the USA. I know it’s very popular in some other countries but here it’s so refreshinly rare!

Thanks for your response! Hopefully, we’ll both get some middle name suggestions on this thread!

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Elias[/name] has great flow to me and sort of sounds like a mix of [name]Silas[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name], so you might like it. If I’m reading your right, you kind of like something a little bit more adventurous in the middle spot.

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Blaize[/name] (or [name]Blaine[/name])
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]West[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Wesley[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Anders[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Brooks[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Rhys[/name]

It was hard to find names I liked for you that didn’t end in “n”! I feel like [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Mason[/name] or [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Tristan[/name] for example sounds too rhymey.

Thank you so much for your suggestions! You are totally right, a name that ends in an ‘n’ just won’t work with [name]Lachlan[/name] as a first name. I’ve added [name]Elias[/name], [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Anders[/name] to middle name list! THANKS!

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Emmet[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Finn[/name]
[name]Lachlann[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Lachlann[/name] [name]Zachary[/name]

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Asa[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Kent[/name]

[name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] is WONDERFUL! I’m really digging it! Thanks for the great suggestion! Sorry it took me a few days to see the response. The little guy has forgotten that morning sickness is supposed to end when the first trimester did. My second favorite on the list is [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Quincy[/name]. Oh and then there’s [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Miles[/name]…thanks for all of the wonderful suggestions!

[name]Do[/name] you really think we could get away with [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Finn[/name]? I have loved [name]Finn[/name] for middle name for years. However, I’ve never seriously considered it due to the fact that it ends in an ‘n’ as do our sons’ first names. That said, after reading this post, I keep saying [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Finn[/name] outloud and it just doesn’t sound ‘wrong’ to my ears…

Is it too choppy or too much ‘n’ repeat? If not, this one is def. going on the short list!

I’m in love with the name [name]Sawyer[/name]. Totally completely head over heels in love. My big pause with this name is we considered using it for his sister. We ended up not using it because it was too boyish but… well, the fact we even considered it for a girl gives me pause. I’ll run it by dh, thanks!

My brother is [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], growing up he was called [name_f]Lockie[/name_f] or LJ. If you’re looking for something a little less traditional - how about [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] or [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]?
