Been obsessing over this name a long time, we use the [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-elle pronunciation rather than the [name_m]French[/name_m], but I am not sure if [name_f]Mariella[/name_f] is better? I don’t really know what middle names work with it either. Our last name will end in -en and is five letters, we love music and classical literature, we’re of Italian, Irish, [name_m]German[/name_m] and Romani ancestries. But we’re American (SO is a Floridian) and Australian born. We love autumn/Halloween or winter/[name_u]Christmas[/name_u] especially! We also have deep connection to the sea and future DH loves camping/hiking and is an [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. I love antiques, astrology ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] is out now because my cousin just used it ) and Southern 1950s inspired movies (eg. The Notebook, The Help etc.) With all that being said, hopefully it’ll get some creative juices flowing on what kind of middle names could work with [name_f]Marielle[/name_f], two middles is a family tradition.
Women in our family we’re close to:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (SO’s grandmother) and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (My grandmother) so [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] could be used possibly.
[name_f]Susan[/name_f] (SO’S mother)
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (SO’s great grandmother)
[name_u]Terrie[/name_u] (my mother,) she likes the name [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], so [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] could fulfill that instead of her name being honoured.
[name_u]Merle[/name_u] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] (my paternal grandmother) - I was really close with her.
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] - My great grandmother on my paternal side, she was my grandfather’s mother and the inspiration for why I have loved [name_f]Mary[/name_f] my whole life!
None of this is a list, but simply just some idea of the things we love and would consider incorporating into a little girl’s name one day!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]! With it being three syllables and so feminine and graceful I think a short sweet name will be a good balance, like [name_f]May[/name_f].
I love Marielle! My favorite combo for the name is Marielle June. For sea related and nature names what about…
Marielle Oceana Ruth
Marielle Haven
Marielle Ruth Isla - Isla means “island”
Marielle Cordelia Ruth - not only does Cordelia have the super adorable meaning of “daughter of the sea”, it also has that
southern charm you were looking for!
Marielle Pearl - this might be a stretch, but it does have such a classic flair to it!
Marielle Aspen Ruth - this name definitely reminds me of winter, and looks and sounds so elegant!
Marielle Iris - means “rainbow”
For astronomical middle names, what about…
Marielle Aurora
Marielle Luna
Marielle Celestia Ruth
Marielle Ruth Esther - I love Esther, it means star like Stella but is not as popular
Some ideas for combos that do not use Ruth are Marielle Pearl Celestia, Marielle Cordelia Pearl, and Marielle Luna Aspen…though my favorite is probably Marielle Aspen Ruth:)
