I am looking for middle names for [name]Mason[/name]. I’d like to use something longer and classic to match my daughter’s name ([name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]), but right now the name on the table chosen by my husband is [name]Cole[/name]. So do you like [name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name]? He’s due in less than 4 weeks!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Mason[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]? Or, I think [name]Mason[/name] [name]George[/name] has a lovely sound to it!
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is too abrupt imo.
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is nice.
[name]Mason[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Richard[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is ok, it just feels like a very trendy combo, and it makes me think of coal mines. I think [name]Mason[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name] would be nice.
I was a nanny to a [name]Mason[/name] [name]Charles[/name]. His full name was such a joy to say, it flowed beautifully!!
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Garrett[/name]! It has a good ring to it, it’s strong and has that “stand my ground” sound to it Have fun!
Thanks! I’m going to suggest these to my husband. He is harder to please than I am it seems. I really like [name]Mason[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. But he said no. We aren’t naming experts and had no idea that [name]Mason[/name] was popular or trendy. shaymin2, I didn’t know [name]Cole[/name] was ‘trendy’ either! We must live under a rock here.
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is ok. [name]Mason[/name] [name]Grey[/name] came to mind.
I really like [name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name], but I like these better:
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]
We named our son [name]Mason[/name] in [name]January[/name] of last year having NO idea how popular it had become, it was just a name my husband and I both liked and agreed on and had never really heard around before. Go figure. His middle name is [name]James[/name] after my husband’s uncle that passed away recently and I love the way [name]Mason[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds. Some one else suggested [name]George[/name] which I also have to agree sounds nice since that is our last name. Others that we considered were [name]Reid[/name] and [name]Roderick[/name], also family names.
My wife is due [name]December[/name] 8th and we have decided on mason but I like [name]Kenneth[/name] as a middle name because it’s my middle name. What are your thoughts? Alternatives are welcome as well.
Thanks everyone!!
I know I’m new but maybe someone will reply helpfully anyway…
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Matt[/name]! Firstly, congratulations on your baby boy.
Secondly-- I think honoring a family member is one of the best possible reasons to bestow a name. You and your son will obviously share a connection no matter what he’s named, but if you share a name it can make the bond even stronger. It’s a much better reason than simply picking something out that sounds nice. [name]Kenneth[/name] is a fine name with actually a very good meaning (“fire-born, good-looking.”)
However, you should know that [name]Mason[/name] itself is an incredibly popular name. In fact, it was the #2 name in [name]America[/name] last year, with almost 19,400 little boys being given it. And it’s been in the top 60 for the entire last decade. The chances of your son sharing his name with many other little boys in his life (in his classroom, on his sports teams) is about 100%. [name]Mason[/name] is popular for a reason-- it’s easy to spell and pronounce, it has a pleasant sound, and it’s masculine without being over-the-top. Given that your name is [name]Matt[/name], one of the most common names of our generation, how did you feel about it growing up? Did you like having a popular, tease-proof name, or did you feel lost in the crowd and wished you had something a little bit less common?
In case you’d like something that sounds/feels like [name]Mason[/name], but is less common, here are some options:
[name]Alton[/name] (1262 babies in 2011)
[name]Bowman[/name] (18)
[name]Bronson[/name] (281)
[name]Bryce[/name] (3337)
[name]Carson[/name] (4894)
[name]Clayton[/name] (1334)
[name]Colin[/name] ( 3242)
[name]Dawson[/name] (1001)
[name]Easton[/name] (3746)
[name]Grayson[/name] (3907)
[name]Lawson[/name] (429)
Lofton (10)
[name]Paxton[/name] (1274)
[name]Preston[/name] (2997)
[name]Seaton[/name] (6)
[name]Stanton[/name] (26)
[name]Tyson[/name] (1370)
[name]Frasier[/name] (0)
[name]Hayes[/name] (286)
I think all of these would sound fine with [name]Kenneth[/name]. And you can see how random naming patterns really are-- is Lofton really that different from [name]Dawson[/name]? But 10 boys were called Lofton, and 1000 called [name]Dawson[/name]. Lofton fits in just fine-- but nobody thought of his name.
[name]Mason[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is very nice.
