Solomon was on the initial list I made for this pregnancy and my husband vetoed it the first time I read it out. After pitching it again, he has had a change of heart and is now “not opposed” and willing to marinade on the idea.
I love, LOVE the meaning of peace. I love that he was known for his wisdom. And- I think this is what swayed my husband to reconsider it - Solomon was the son of David. My husband is named David.
I also like the nickname Solly a lot. I had initially pitched the name Sullivan nn Sully pretty hard, and husband never liked it. I started to feel like it was maybe a little too trendy for my liking.
I like the fact that Solomon is so old fashioned and sturdy, but also has a sweet meaning and sweet nicknames.
I think Solomon might go well with brother Warren? I would like input on that. Warren is not a Biblical name so I feel like I’m a way they wouldn’t make a good sibling set, but maybe it’s the -n endings that make them sound kind of okay together in my head. Thoughts?
I also enjoy the way it sounds with our last name, which starts with St-, has an o in the middle, and ends in -er. I like the alliteration of the repeating S’s and think the matching o’s look cohesive.
Would love input on whether it sounds okay with Warren, what your overall impressions are/feeling about the name, and middle name suggestions.
Some combos I’ve jotted down:
Solomon Ames (this is my favorite, personally)
Solomon Finch
Solomon Nolan (husband initially liked Nolan, and I think I like the matching o’s)
Solomon Ray (my dad’s middle name)
Solomon Lior
Solomon Cedric (think I just like the s and the soft c)
Solomon Clive (a nod to C.S. Lewis)
Solomon Francis (I don’t know why, I just like Francis as a middle for a boy and Francine as a middle for a girl.)
Solomon Graham
Solomon Bernard (husband liked Bernard for a first but I didn’t want Bernie Sanders references)
Solomon Clancy (kind of random, but it said the name Clancy was cute and husband actually liked it. But I could t see it as a first name.)
Thanks for the continued input as I am on here way too often with different name every time.
