My name is [name]Emily[/name] and I am pregnant with a baby girl. We [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Millie[/name] for our soon-to-be daughter, but are wondering if the names [name]Emily[/name]/[name]Millie[/name] are too similar to have both in the same family.
I think it would be okay as a nn for a longer first.
It’s not often that you use a mother’s first name and her child’s name at the same time. In my world it’s either [name]Millie[/name]'s mom and [name]Millie[/name] or [name]Emily[/name] and her daughter.
But use your own judgement. I think it’s okay, but I don’t overthink as much as some
They are similar, but I mean, boys are juniors all the time, this isn’t even that. There is a double standard, so I’m not trying to white wash that, but I also think it’s fine to push the envelope on it a little bit. I do think there are a lot of great names with [name]Millie[/name] as a nn, and that does help, but I don’t think it’s necessary at all.
I agree with this completely. It’s never unusual to have two guys with the same name in a family, but it’s a concern that a mothers name is too similar to her daughters. It’s not that big a deal. Someone else said that they would probably say [name]Millie[/name]'s mom and [name]Millie[/name], or [name]Emily[/name] and her daughter. It’s similar, but not too close.
I adore the idea! [name]Millie[/name] is very sweet and would definitely be a nice name to name after you if you did not want the same name. [name]Just[/name] be ok with the cutesy/nn name… Because she will have it even after she grows out of being that adorable little girl! I wanted to name my little girl [name]Elsie[/name] and my hubs thought it was too cutesy and couldn’t imagine it as her adult name. I personally still love it… and still love [name]Millie[/name]. [name]Just[/name] a thought!
I would say it was too similar if you were thinking [name]Millie[/name] and had a daughter called [name]Emily[/name] already. But as long as nobody you know calls you [name]Millie[/name] as a nickname,I don’t think it’s a problem.
