Mina

Hello :)–let me start off by saying that i don’t particularly like names that i can’t figure out how to pronounce. When i initially saw the name [name_f]Mina[/name_f], I pronounced it like, Mee-nah. And i love that. However, I then realized that it can be pronounced like, My-nah. I love this name but I am worried that I will have to correct people on the pronunciation, which I don’t want in a name. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce this name if you were to read it? Thanks

I say [name_f]Meena[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Mia[/name_f] with an n

I pronounce it like you do and know it as a nickname for [name_f]Yasmina[/name_f]

I’ve only ever heard it pronounced MEE-nə.

I don’t think you’ll have an issue with pronunciation. I’ve only ever heard Mee-nah.

I used to like [name_f]Mina[/name_f] a lot! Now I work with a kid of [name_f]Indian[/name_f] ancestry whose name is [name_f]Mina[/name_f], and I can’t even see it on a girl again (which I’m so sad over, because I used to [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] it for a girl and the idea that I’d work with a guy named [name_f]Mina[/name_f] was blowing my mind…). He says it MEE-nah, as does everyone here. Nobody’s had any pronunciation issues, and I think [name_f]Mina[/name_f] (or, even [name_f]Meena[/name_f], although it doesn’t seem as classy) is/are pretty obviously MEE-nah.

Good luck!

I say it like Dracula, i.e. Mee-nah. It’s beautiful.

I would pronounce [name_f]Mina[/name_f] as MEE-nah.

I lovveee [name_f]Mina[/name_f] It’s never crossed my mind it might be pronounced my-nuh, nor have I heard anyone say this. Definitely all mee-nuh

Mee-nah, like [name_f]Dina[/name_f], [name_f]Gina[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], etc.

I’ve always pronounced it Mee-na and heard it mee-na. [name_f]Mina[/name_f] is like [name_f]Nina[/name_f] with an m. I don’t foresee it being mispronounced.

Also, I adore this name.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance

[name_f]Minna[/name_f]. Probably wrong, but that’s how I picture it being said.
