Due in a few weeks and if it’s a girl we’re leaning toward the name [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] (over [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], which is still in the running).
I’ve always preferred the [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] spelling, but my husband is leaning toward [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]. I find “elle” spelling to be a little too fluffy and princess like and find “el” to be more sophisticated. I’m not worried about pronunciation, as I think it’s pretty clear either way. More just a perception of the name and the person behind it…
I think they are both lovely. While [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is more compact and less frilly, I do like the elle ending for ease of nicknames. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] & [name_f]Belle[/name_f] are right there at the end. (that being said, I think I prefer nn [name_f]Miri[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]).
You will be fine with either. It is a beautiful name.
I love [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]! [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is beautiful, too, but I agree that [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is frilly and pretty enough without the added -le. When I hear/see [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f], I picture a medieval princess
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is better, it looks more sophisticated and I think it would age better. If I saw [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] it looks somehow more immature?
