Mirabel vs. Mirabelle

Recently discovered this name and I am curious how you prefer the spelling of the name.

Also curious what you think of the name. Can you see [name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabel[/name] on a toddler? An adult in the real world?

Any insight would be great.

[name]Mirabel[/name] reminds me [name]Miriam[/name]. [name]Mirabelle[/name] is sweeter.

I think that more people would pronounce [name]Mirabelle[/name] correct before [name]Mirabel[/name]. I also think that most people would spell [name]Mirabelle[/name] before [name]Mirabel[/name]. It’s not like [name]Annabelle[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name], where people are familiar with [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name]/[name]Annabel[/name].

I love [name]Mirabelle[/name]'s meaning and sweet sound. I love the nn. possibilities: [name]Mira[/name], Rabel, [name]Elle[/name].

I definitely prefer the spelling [name]Mirabel[/name], which looks less like a smush of [name]Mira[/name] (which I don’t mind) or [name]Mia[/name] (which I loathe) and [name]Belle[/name].

In general I consistently prefer [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], Rosabel, [name]Mirabel[/name], etc. to the -belle versions. [name]Just[/name] a bit tailored and crisper, as well as less smushed looking. The only reason I would use -belle would be if I were naming after a particular [name]Belle[/name].

It seems perfectly plausible to me on an adult as well as a toddler.

[name]Mirabel[/name], so she’s nicknamed [name]Mira[/name] and not [name]Bella[/name]… which is way overused >.<

I much prefer the [name]Mirabelle[/name] spelling. It seems much more intuitive and just looks better in my opinion.

I love the name and think it would work just as well for a toddler or adult.

I prefer [name]Mirabel[/name] as it feels more like a cohesive name and less like a combo of [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Belle[/name], also more removed from the [name]Belle[/name] family of names – but you may want her to be more of a [name]Belle[/name] and there’s nothing wrong with that! It is certainly sweet. I also prefer [name]Juliet[/name] to [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] to [name]Annabelle[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name] to [name]Isabelle[/name] but honestly think it’s personal preference so don’t consider this an official dictate of any kind!

I prefer [name]Mirabel[/name]. It feels less frilly, which in some odd way makes it seem more elegant to me. [name]Mirabel[/name] stands out as different among all the other [name]Bella[/name]/[name]Belle[/name]/[name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] names. Different in a good way.

Unfortunately when I hear [name]Mirabel[/name] all I can think of is the airport near Montreal. So for a girl I’d prefer the [name]Mirabelle[/name] spelling to distinguish the two.

Oh, I’ve always absolutely love Mirabelle! It’s sweet, and unique, but it’s not too far out there. She may go by [name]Mira[/name] or [name]Belle[/name] when she’s older, if she wants, but the name is a beautiful one! Mirabellooks to odd to me, personally.

[name]Count[/name] me in the [name]Mirabel[/name] camp. I also prefer [name]Isabel[/name]/[name]Isobel[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name]. I prefer the look of one name over the “smushed” look as stripedsocks put it, and I don’t love frilly looking names in general.

And, FWIW, I think [name]Mirabel[/name]/[name]Mirabelle[/name] is completely wearable, regardless of which spelling you choose. I’d love to meet a [name]Mirabel[/name]!

I prefer [name]Mirabelle[/name] and I can see it on both toddler and adult.

I enjoy [name]Mirabel[/name]. But personally I hate all the [name]Belle[/name] names. I don’t like anything with the nickname [name]Bella[/name]/ell… blech! These are all too Frilly and “princessy” In my opinion. I think the spelling [name]Mirabel[/name] sounds elegant without having to try to be elegant.

I’m split 50/50 on this. I like the way [name]Mirabel[/name] looks better - I agree with most of the Berries that it looks more cohesive and less like [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Belle[/name] combined. However, if I imagine myself a little girl, even into junior high and high-school, I think I would prefer [name]Mirabelle[/name]. [name]Even[/name] if it’s spelled [name]Mirabel[/name] she may want to go by the nickname [name]Belle[/name] someday. I love the nicknames [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Miri[/name] for it and if I used it for my own daughter, she would be called all three of those equally.

When I see the spelling [name]Mirabelle[/name] my mind immediately defaults it to [name]Mirabella[/name] - I think this is from seeing [name]Isabella[/name] a lot - so I would go with [name]Mirabel[/name], unless you want to nickname [name]Belle[/name] and then the first one I think. I think it’s really pretty and unusual, wouldn’t use it personally, but would definitely not mind seeing it on a child or adult.

I prefer [name]Mirabel[/name] (looks less like a smush etc.) as [name]Mirabelle[/name] reminds me of a Disney princess a little bit - this is in no way a bad thing, but it might be a bit inconvenient if she turns out to be a tomboy. Actually, having said that, she could go by [name]Mira[/name] or [name]Miri[/name] (which I love by the way!) as an tomboyish alternative…okay, my argument has just disintegrated there. Really unhelpfully, for no reason at all, I just prefer [name]Mirabel[/name].

And I think that even if she did want to go by the nickname [name]Belle[/name], she could - there are much less intuitive nicknames for names out there.

Good luck!

I think when you have a super feminine name, it’s best to keep the spelling simpler, if you have the option. So count me in for [name]Mirabel[/name].

I prefure the name [name]Mirabelle[/name] to [name]Mirabel[/name]. The added belle on the end makes it look all the more classy and beautiful.
I see someone (a toddler) being lively, beautiful and spunky.
Some possibly nicknames to fall back on if the full name [name]Mirabelle[/name] is too feminine, or whatever the case may be, are the obvious mira and belle. Aswell as one nickname I always thought would work: [name]Mina[/name]. [name]Hope[/name] this helps!

I agree with all the comments regarding [name]Mirabel[/name] preference over [name]Mirabelle[/name].
