Is it too tied to the movie Encanto? Does the movie ruin it?

I’d say [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is completely usable. I did watch Encanto twice when it came out and loved it, but I do live under a rock where popular culture doesn’t find its way in much, so maybe discount my opinion on how character-associated it is (but here it is anyway): If you’re using a different pronunciation to the one used in Encanto, that would make it significantly different to me.
I’m fond of [name_f]Mira[/name_f] as a full name, so I love the idea of it as a nn for [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f].

I watched it too and had completely forgotten the main character’s name was [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] until I just looked up the name. Lol. Shows how much attention I pay to pop culture!

I’ve never seen “Encanto” but know the reference. I still think it’s a usable name. That said, I like just [name_f]Mira[/name_f] better and think it’s lovely with your other girls’ names.

Mirabel is adorable, as is Miri! And would make such a great third with your other two. I have seen Encanto a number of times and the name hasn’t had the same effect of being stuck to the character as other animation characters have. But even if it did have that effect, that’s OK. Elsa/Elsie spiked after Frozen and no one really cares - if you’re OK with the occasional and not inevitable question about whether you names your kid after something in pop culture, then do it! It’s a pretty, thoughtful, and quirky cute name - and I don’t think it’ll be used as much as the Elsa names anyway just because it’s a bit more complex as a name.

I really like it! I don’t think the Encanto association is strong enough that people would assume you named her after the character. Other kids might point it out but by the time she’s in school there will have been other movies that were big hits so Encanto will probably not be on everyone’s mind quite as much.

I think [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] makes a wonderful addition to your sibling set. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is sweet, whimsical, feels holy like E’s name yet has the strong femininity of I’s name especially with the nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is a surprising unexpected choice and ultimately I think the Encanto connotation is a happy one. Also Encanto is yes popular but unless I am indeed living under a rock I feel that Encanto hasn’t exploded like frozen with [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. Most would associate [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] with frozen but I think miracle when I hear [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] before I think Encanto. I also think it’s a shame to rule out names because of [name_f]Disney[/name_f] especially as your daughter probably would like the association just like your daughter probably would like the [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] association if you went with [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] for example.

I adore [name_f]Mira[/name_f], so I’m quite fond of [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] too, although I prefer [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]. I think she works brilliantly with your girls! I haven’t watched Encanto in full, but I know my nephew loves it… but he hasn’t mentioned specific characters. I recognize it as being an Encanto name, but I’m not around a ton of kids besides my nephews these days, so I’m probably not the best person to ask. I would be super pleased to meet a little [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] though… it’s a beautiful name.

For me, it would be very tied to the movie, but again I might be a little biased because I hear about it/see it/have to listen to my sister raving about it so much. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] goes perfectly with your girls though, and it’s not as tied to it’s movie as, say, [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] or [name_f]Snow[/name_f].

I immediately think of Encanto but I am a huge disney nerd. Does anyone ever bring of [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog with Ev.angeline? It’s not a main character but the love song in the movie is Ma [name_f]Belle[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog and Encanto may be on the same level of disney popularity, with Encanto just being more in the public eye since it’s newer. I think the association is fun, but up to you if it would be a bother

[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is lovely and perfectly usable. You might get a few questions about Encanto, but it’s certainly not a negative association. I also don’t think the name is as strongly tied to the character as, say, [name_f]Ariel[/name_f] is.
