Miranda

I love how strong and feminine it is and its meaning is so lovely but I worry if it seems dated.

I like how it has an array of nicknames. Would the nickname [name_u]Dani[/name_u] be too much of a stretch? It’s not intuitive but the sounds and letters are there. Also I like the nickname [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]? (I love the combo of [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f])

What sibling names (both boy and girl) would you pair with it?

I think [name_u]Dani[/name_u] would be too much of a stretch. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is nice!

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. My thoughts immediately go to the reading of the [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] rights during an arrest. Disregarding that [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is a pretty combo.

I feel like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] may have siblings with these names:

[name_f]Jessica[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Julius[/name_m]

I like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. To me it’s warm and brightly coloured, but not giddy or childish. And I think of The [name_f]Tempest[/name_f].

To me it works with:

[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivien[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]

And I like the suggestions of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

My name is M!rand@. I’m in my mid-twenties. I have always loved bearing my name and have never had any negative associations or experiences with it. I feel very proud to have such a beautiful name.
As for nicknames, I have been called Randi, Mimi, and Mandie. I think if you can do all that with it Dani is not a stretch,
Does it seem dated? Well, I’m not the best person to answer that, but I will say it reminds me of Jessica; it was well-used at a certain point in time, but carries historical and literary cred which makes it always a classy (not trendy) choice.
I’d love to tell you my siblings’ names, but won’t for privacy reasons.
So here are some close to their style:

I also think Isla would a pretty sister name.

I really like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I think it’s (almost) classic. [name_u]Dani[/name_u] is a too much of a stretch… What about using an N middle name ([name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]? [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f]?), that way [name_u]Dani[/name_u] sounds like an intuitive nickname. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is lovely, of course.

I agree [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a modern classic. I think its very pretty and doesn’t feel dated.

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a gorgeous name! [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is really pretty.

I think that both [name_u]Dani[/name_u] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] are too much of a stretch.

I like Miranda. It has a pretty, timeless feel to it like Charlotte or Vivian, even though it’s far from what I would consider a classic. I’m not a fan of Dani or Anna as nicknames though; they make Miranda feel boring. I prefer Miri, although Miranda is one of those names I like in full. Now for sibling ideas.

I love [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_u]Dani[/name_u] will work, but I love the nicknames [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], and [name_f]Mandy[/name_f] for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] in the middle name spot. You could call her [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lu[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] first. And Sex and the City. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is super sweet. [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is a great nn option too.

I am a recent [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] convert. I used to abhor the name. I had true passionate hate for it. But it is so beautiful and classy that I have fallen for it. If I were to use [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], I would use the full name. In some cases nicknames are intuitive but I feel as though shortening [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] takes away from its appeal.

I could see [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] having siblings named:

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_u]Nicola[/name_u]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Richard[/name_m]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m]

I love the combo of [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]!

Oh I was going to say (and forgot) that my favourite nicknames for it are: [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Andie[/name_f]. [name_f]Andie[/name_f]'s my husband’s favourite because its spunky and light, [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is a bit more femme and sweet.

I agree with the previous poster, [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is a cute NN. [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_u]Randi[/name_u], and [name_f]Ranna[/name_f] are all sensible NN’s. Not [name_u]Dani[/name_u] though.

I like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I don’t find it dated at all…but I’ve never met a [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. The first thing that comes to mind for me is [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_m]Lambert[/name_m]. I think [name_u]Dani[/name_u] is a bit of a stretch but not completely out in left field… Personally, I like [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_u]Randi[/name_u] as a nn for it…or even [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mimi[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. One of my favorite names. I prefer the nn [name_f]Mira[/name_f]. [name_u]Dani[/name_u] is a bit of a stretch, though [name_f]Andi[/name_f] works. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is lovely. I’ve had [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] on my list.

Have you considered [name_f]Danica[/name_f]? It has that similar exotic sound to [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] - and has an equally wonderful meaning - but with the bonus that you could easily get your desired nicknames of [name_u]Dani[/name_u] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I love the name [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] - I really do! - but if you’re after [name_u]Dani[/name_u] as a nickname I think you should keep looking.

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]…

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a gorgeous name with an elegant Shakespearean classic sound. I do think [name_u]Dani[/name_u] is a far stretch as a nickname for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but potentially [name_f]Mira[/name_f] on it works nicely or maybe [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I also like potentially [name_f]Miri[/name_f] as nickname for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] too.

I am not keen on [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] just because I dislike [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] names which also includes [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] etc so I’m not keen on [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] it just isn’t my thing.

Other middle name suggestions:
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

: )

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Although I despise [name_u]Andy[/name_u] on a boy, I think [name_f]Andi[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is really cute, kinda spunky like [name_u]Dani[/name_u]. Also love the suggestions of [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] isn’t dated!

I like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], I don’t find it dated. I can see it on a cute little girl (with a fun nn) and it sounds sophisticated on an adult.

From your signature I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] sound great together or [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] & [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] if you have a boy and a girl.

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is a nice combo. I do think [name_u]Dani[/name_u] is a stretch but I think it could work, I think [name_f]Andi[/name_f] would be cute too.
