I know that there is a [name_m]French[/name_m] name [name_f]Mireille[/name_f] (mee-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]), so does that make you think that [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f] is made up or a misspelling/pronunciation of the [name_m]French[/name_m] name?
And if you were to see it written, how would you pronounce it?
I’d say MEER-ee-el. I think it’s nice, and I wouldn’t assume it to be a misspelling of [name_f]Mireille[/name_f]. It reminds me of the Tolkienian name Míriel, and [name_f]Muriel[/name_f].
They are two different names although most people aren’t name nerds like many of us so wouldn’t necessarily know that. But, as much as I love [name_f]Mireille[/name_f] (meer-AYE) it is the one less known, so I think you would be fine with [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f] as far as pronunciation issues. I think most people would say it as it is spelled which I think would sound like [name_f]MEERI[/name_f]-elle or as pp @lumen shows in her post.
Looks like a kre8tive spelling of [name_f]Muriel[/name_f].
I wouldn’t think the parent was going for [name_f]Mireille[/name_f] since the spelling doesn’t match the sound. I’d think they’d go with something like Meeray or [name_f]Mirae[/name_f]
I would say it [name_f]Miri[/name_f]-elle.
I know a little girl name [name_f]MIRELLE[/name_f] and I think it is a pretty name.
[name_f]Mirielle[/name_f] is pretty too.
I know a little girl named Miriel who pronounces it MEER-ee-ehl. I always liked it and thought it suited her well. She’s super cute and energetic! I’d assume that’s how [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f] is pronounced as well.
