Mn for Violet

Hey Berries - I THINK I saw on a post on here that a possible nn for [name]Violet[/name] was [name]Lola[/name] - so I trotted off to try and convince my dh of the merrits of this, as it encorporated 2 of my favourite names, in stead of one, and both of which he had said he liked… when i told him we could have [name]Lola[/name] as a nn, he questioned how, which made me suddenly go - ‘i hope that i am not imagining it’… so please put me straight - do you think [name]Lola[/name] is a legit nn for [name]Violet[/name] - and if not are there any other nn’s apart from [name]Vi[/name] that you can think of…
thanks heaps…

I call my [name]Violet[/name] “Lo” (rhyming with row) for short, so [name]Lola[/name] definitely seems doable.

I think it’s a stretch. YOu could, of course, do whatever you want for a nickname, but people might look at you funny when they ask what it’s short for. But names are getting more fluid and creative, so it’s not a huge deal. I like [name]Lettie[/name] for an alternate to [name]Vi[/name].

I can see it as a nickname for [name]Violet[/name], but I think it also makes a pretty combination on its own- [name]Lola[/name] [name]Violet[/name].

[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name] is absolutely adorable!!

I agree that it’s a bit of a stretch, but still doable. I’ve been looking for a full name for [name]Lola[/name] and someone suggested [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] as ways to get to it. I guess they got it from the “ol” part of [name]Violet[/name]. I think [name]Viola[/name] makes more sense but I honestly like [name]Violet[/name] better, too. Honestly, though, I think if you have a name that has “ol” or “lo” in it somewhere you could use the nn [name]Lola[/name].

As for other nicknames, I’ve heard [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Aya[/name] (like EYE-ah), [name]Isla[/name], [name]Vivi[/name], Vio, [name]Lettie[/name], [name]Etta[/name], etc., as other nns for [name]Violet[/name] besides [name]Vi[/name].

Good luck!

People come up with so many nn’s for my [name]Violet[/name] it’s not funny.
She’s been called [name]Vi[/name], [name]Letty[/name], Lo, Vio, [name]Letta[/name], Visy. It’s amazing how many there actually are. Although i can’t say she’s ever gotten called [name]Lola[/name].
But I always insist on her being called [name]Violet[/name], it is such a beautiful name already, it doesn’t really need a nn. (:

I actually know a little [name]Violet[/name] that sometimes goes by [name]Lola[/name], though I’m not sure where it came from. I think it started as [name]Lila[/name] and somehow became [name]Lola[/name] overtime. But I think if you wanted to establish it you should be able to without too much of a problem, as nicknames can be pulled from just about anywhere. I mean, I know a [name]Kayla[/name] that has somehow been tacked with the nn ‘[name]Annie[/name]’ and her parents don’t even know why they started calling her that, haha.

thanks everyone for your feedback… I love love love [name]Violet[/name], but my daughter [name]Amelia[/name] has a nn (millie) and I kinda like the idea of another girl having an equally fun, pretty nn. [name]Lola[/name] would have been my youngest son’s name if he was pink, so I am still partial to that name so that would be my fav - though I love the above idea of [name]Lila[/name] too - that would be a cute nn to go with millie…

thank you, you have all been very helpful…

[name]How[/name] about [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Delilah[/name] nn [name]Lila[/name]? OR (and I’m really proud of this one) [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Viola[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name]?
