I need some help with a girls name please I very much like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] as a first name, but I’m stuck on a middle. These are some I’ve been considering.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] - I just think it sounds pretty. shrug
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Ora[/name_f] - A nod to my husband’s grandmother’s maiden name Orr.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] - The “slippery” sound of [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] makes me want a middle name with a more solid consonant sound. I like this combo, but it sounds a little prudish or uppity to me.
I’m also very interested in odd or unusual names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] to give you an idea…For several months, I was 100% positive I would be naming my Halloween/[name_f]Autumn[/name_f] baby [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] Binx. Husband and family shot that one down pretty quickly
Any suggestions aside from [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] are welcome too. I like older names, but not many “old lady” names. [name_f]My[/name_f] first daughter’s name is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and a boy would be named [name_u]Everett[/name_u].
I think that [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Ora[/name_f] is a beautiful name and one that I can really appreciate. A darling combination. I am not too fond of [name_f]Annette[/name_f] but [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is a lovely and I don’t think that [name_u]Arden[/name_u] is the best for you. Other ideas are: (I can rethink if these don’t help!)
Older names:
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
More out there choices that are still tame:
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Bliss[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Bijoux[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Poet[/name_f]
Your suggestions of [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_u]Bliss[/name_u], and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] are names I’ve considered before. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is very pretty and one of the few name combos my husband likes, but it seems like such a mouthful. I might add [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and [name_u]Bliss[/name_u] back to my list.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] brings to mind [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. (A little girl called [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]! Is that cute or just bizarre?)
I’ve had a few people suggest [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. It’s a nice name, but I grew up with a [name_f]Stella[/name_f] so I immediately think of “that girl.” It seems [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a very well liked name though!
I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Ora[/name_f] are both beautiful. I think [name_u]Arden[/name_u] brings in enough crispness and is prettier than [name_f]Annette[/name_f].
I think all three of your combos would be solid decisions. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] is my favorite, sound-wise, but I love the familial association that [name_f]Ora[/name_f] carries. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] is the prettiest, but I feel she may be a tad bit too pretty beside [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] are beautiful sister names, so I feel their middles should have a similar, less-than-frilly feel to them.
Names I think are ideal with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] -
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u] would fit both of the sections above.
Names I personally love with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] -
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
• [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
As far as other first name suggestions go, I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is golden, but if you’re looking I would suggest [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. It has a very similar feel to it. She and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] are both recognizable and have history, but are outside the Top 1000, with close ties to the inside ([name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] + [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]).
No worries! I’m glad I wasn’t too far off! [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is a bit of a mouthful but I don’t think to too great an extent, especially when you add a surname. Having said that, you do want the name to be perfect and not just settled upon. I think that [name_u]Bliss[/name_u] flows really well and is different so is what you want and not too out there to satisfy your husband!
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is a traditional yet spunky name! I do think that it is a very nice option. Personally, a little girl called [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is cute and she can always choose the nn [name_f]Dora[/name_f] if she wanted to, or [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] would also be an option with its similar -a ending.
It’s such a shame about [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! I know exactly what you mean though as associations can make things so hard. Please keep me updated!X
I love [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u]! Prim and proper but bright, sunny and spunky at the same time. And I love the literary reference- [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s [name_m]Forest[/name_m] of [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Ora[/name_f] or [name_f]Annette[/name_f].
