I have always loved the idea of having a little [name_f]Molly[/name_f], but I find it a bit too cutesy for a full grown woman, and I also tend to prefer longer 3+ syllable first names.
Any thoughts or suggestions on what [name_f]Molly[/name_f] could be a nickname for?
I know there are a lot but I’m super tired and can’t think of them right now. My favorite one is [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f]/[name_f]Mali[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] is one of my absolute favorites names, but I do like the idea of an alternative formal name. I have been crushing on [name_f]Molly[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Maria[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Miriam[/name_f].
It can be a nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I think it could also work for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. Maybe even [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] at a push
[name_f]Milena[/name_f] seems like it could be your style. Maybe [name_f]Melisande[/name_f], [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] or [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] at a stretch?
I actually have heard of grown woman named [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and it fits them perfectly.
It doesn’t sound like a cute little baby name to me at all!
Though if you really don’t like it as a full name, maybe [name_f]Monique[/name_f], [name_f]Mallory[/name_f], [name_u]Memphis[/name_u], or [name_f]Mahogany[/name_f]? I also love the pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I love the classic [name_f]Mary[/name_f], which I think is rarely used these days as a first name, so [name_f]Mary[/name_f] nn [name_f]Molly[/name_f] would be my first choice. Also like the idea of [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
These are stretches, but maybe [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_f]Marielle[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Mairwen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f]
Your thoughts about it being too cutesty for a grown woman were my sentiments exactly when we named our second daughter. We went with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
I actually really love the idea of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Molly[/name_f]! I never considered that before and my grandmother was [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] so it fits rather nicely.
There’s actually a bunch of suggestions I really like in here, [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Marisol[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Milena[/name_f] @bonfireazalea, love love it, it’s been on my list awhile, but I am not sure [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a intuitive nn for it. (And I swear one day I will return your PM haha difficult to do on the mobile site!)
