I think [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] could also be a good middle name choice. Maybe [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]Washington[/name_m], [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Pax[/name_u], [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Thames[/name_u], and [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Cade[/name_u].

I went with boy, but only because I have a crush on [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]. I think it’s 50/50 though and can easily work on girls because of [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f].

Honestly can’t choose. I think it works no matter what.

I think [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] would work equally as well on a boy or a girl (I didn’t vote). As a common surname, it gives it a more masculine air (though many surname-type names are currently on trend for girls too) and with the [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] association, it gives it a great dash of femininity, so I guess it depends which one is stronger for you.

I think it works best as a middle name, so my vote is for either, as I have seen it used for both males and females and work well. I believe [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] Elfman has a son named [name_u]Easton[/name_u] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u], which I’ve always loved. I don’t love it as a first name for either gender. Also, I think because of [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] it is a popular option for girls, but I prefer it as a unisex middle name.

I think its one of the few truely unisex names out there. It fits great for a boy and also works awesome for a girl. Eithere way you can’t go wrong.

Thanks everyone! I’m currently leaning towards using it as a boy’s name. That seems to be there trend in the poll as well. That could change though. We’re likely going to save the middle name spot for a name meaningful to us or our family so I get to have some fun with the first name.
