[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] definitely works for a boy or girl! This is just my personal associations but as a boy name it feels more presidential to me, whereas as a girl name I think of [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u].
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is so handsome!
I think [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] works for any gender! I think it makes a great first name, but I also think it’s such a sharp and stylish middle name choice – it has a sleek and tailored vibe that I feel adds a modern, chic element to a name combo for both a boy or girl. I think if I were using [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] I would go with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]!
And [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is my favorite of your boys’ combos!
I actually prefer it for a boy - think it sounds old fashioned in a good way, stately, and almost Pentecostal (especially with names like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_u]Charles[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u] etc). I don’t warm to the name generally - I don’t love the sounds and I now associate it with a celeb cre8tiv name, but that might not be entirely reasonable. So for a girl, it would be a middle only.
I have been crushing on [name_u]Monroe[/name_u], I suggested it for my daughters baby. I hadn’t thought of it for a boy because we were looking at girls names, but I love it for either I love all of the combos…my favorites would be [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. For the boy I like [name_u]Charles[/name_u] or [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. I feel [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] needs a more “normal” name for a middle? But its one of my favorite names at the moment.
It sounds really masculine for me honestly - it’s very stately, as @EloiseT said and I’m somewhat confused as to how its taken off more for the girls’ side.
