Recently I’ve started to feel rather intrigued by the name [name_m]Monty[/name_m]. But I don’t know how i feel about it as full name. I generally like long names that have nickname potential, but [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] is a bit much to say 50 times a day!
What do you think about the name [name_m]Monty[/name_m]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it could stand alone, or is it too much of a nickname? What kind of imagery do you get from the name?
I can definitely see a little man named [name_m]Monty[/name_m]! I do think it could stand alone, but [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] does sound more professional. I do kind of see it as a pet name, but it’s because my dog’s name is [name_m]Monty[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Monty[/name_m]. In fact, I made a thread about it just the other day.
I think it can stand alone, I don’t like any longer forms. It makes me think of little Victorian boys and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] Python.
I would personally use [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Monty[/name_m], however I agree with you that it is a little too much to use on an everyday basis. I also see it as more of a pet name, but I may be biased because my grandad used to have a dog called [name_m]Monty[/name_m].
[name_m]Monty[/name_m] is very handsome. I think it stands well on its own, and I don’t like [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] either. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] sound like a lovely sibset!
I think [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] go nicely together. And agree that it can definitely stand on it’s own (personally I find [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] very stuffy-sounding).
I love [name_m]Monty[/name_m], and yes I think it’s fine on its own. It also could be a short form for [name_m]Montague[/name_m], [name_m]Mortimer[/name_m] or even [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] at a stretch.
I think [name_m]Monty[/name_m] is cute, but I’m not sure it would age well. I think I would prefer it as a nickname. However, I am not a fan of [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] either, it reminds me of [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Burns[/name_m] from the Simpsons. I have to admit, I did think of the full monty when I read the name, but I don’t imagine kids of the current generation would necessarily know of that association.
My association is with [name_m]Brendan[/name_m] [name_m]Fraser[/name_m]'s character in “With Honors”. I love that movie. I wouldn’t worry about the “Full [name_m]Monty[/name_m]” thing. And lots of people like “[name_m]Monty[/name_m] Python” so who really cares about that anyway? I totally think it could work.
