It seems that I tend to like more masculine baby names for a girl, and I would love some more suggestions that I might like.
The #1 name on our list that my fiance and I both love is:
[name_u]Sloan[/name_u]-I love Bad ass feeling the names gives ha ha
I’m starting to really love the name [name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]- a little more girly. And I love the uniqueness of it.
Troyian
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
I also like [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], but I do not like the name Berverly and to me [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] sounds so similar. Same with [name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f], sounds to close to [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f].
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] is on my list, but I would be worried people would call the baby [name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], and I don’t like either names.
Fiance mentioned he liked the name [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. I’m not in love with the name, but he likes it.
[name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] are cool. I must say my taste is a bit more old-fashioned, so not sure how helpful I’ll be. But the following come to mind:
From your list I like: [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] (I like it with the “e” at the end, looks more complete to me), [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] & [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] would make a lovely middle name to balance out the stronger sounding first name. I don’t really care for [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] although I do love [name_f]Lark[/name_f].
I agree with you on [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. I always want to love it because of the [name_u]Ever[/name_u] part but I always just hear [name_f]Beverly[/name_f].
Some suggestions, sorry for any repeats!
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_u]Blakely[/name_u]
[name_m]Berkeley[/name_m]
[name_u]Madigan[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashby[/name_u]
[name_u]Brighton[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_m]Quinlan[/name_m]
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_u]Henley[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
I tend to lean towards “masculine” names as well. I know a real Bad A girl named [name_u]James[/name_u]. She’s in her 40’s and cooler than me (in my 20’s). [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] is a super cute name although the only girls I’ve ever seen with the name lately are babies so to me it has a feeling of sweetness I guess it’s all about what you relate the name to sometimes.
Ohhh I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u]. The main concern I’d have is that it has two accepted pronunciations (like [name_f]Helen[/name_f] + a and like huh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na), but I imagine that most people in her life would be able to commit the correct one to memory, and I wouldn’t worry too much about it so long as you don’t seriously hate either pronunciation.
I doubt that people would mistake it for [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], though I guess it might sometimes be mistaken for [name_f]Helen[/name_f] or for [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. As with a lot of names, though, I don’t think it would be terribly hard to correct people. And it offers so many great nicknames… I’m totally biased, but it is far and away my favourite name on your list.
I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] too - it’s sweet and kind of spunky. It’s not super girly, which I could see appealing to you. It often reminds me of [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - also lively but grounded - and [name_f]Freesia[/name_f], which thinking about it you might like in the way you like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f].
If you like but have concerns about [name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f], you might like [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] (and it may sound different enough from [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]). If you like but have concerns about [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] might sound different enough from [name_f]Beverly[/name_f].
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is super fun and spunky, yet sweet. You might also like [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] (ah-[name_u]KAY[/name_u]-sha) - another unusual-but-not-crazy floral.
One criticism: This spelling of Troyian phonetically doesn’t make sense to me. You only need either the “y” or the “i” - having both adds a syllable and makes it really hard to say - “troy-ee-en”.
I am totally the same! I don’t know what it is about masculine names on a girl I love…I think they’re just so spunky - sounding! My little girl is named [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] [name_f]Marie[/name_f], both are family names. A lot of the names I choose I would use whether I had a boy or girl. Here are some I’ve been loving lately:
[name_u]Tate[/name_u] (current favorite for next baby, boy or girl)
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_u]Britton[/name_u]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u]
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_m]Berkeley[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Shea[/name_u]
[name_f]Lowry[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f] too, and have also really liked [name_f]Merilee[/name_f], although I don’t think I’d ever use it. I love the sound of [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] but it seems to be getting so popular. I love [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] for boy or girl!
I feel like [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] fits exactly what your looking for!
My youngest is [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]. I feel like it’s a pretty strong name. We call her [name_f]Milly[/name_f] to soften it a bit but [name_f]Romi[/name_f] is another name that comes across as strong to me.
Other ideas…sorry for repeats,
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Jhett
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] with an e! As far as [name_f]Helena[/name_f] goes, [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is an honour name for me (grandmother’s name) and I will be using a variation of it if my 3rd is a girl. I do agree that you most likely have to spell phonetically so you get the right pronunciation in many cases (-lay-na, lenn-a, etc.) Here are some of the numerous relations:
[name_f]Helene[/name_f]
[name_f]Leni[/name_f]
[name_f]Lene[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] ([name_m]Lenn[/name_m]-a) (*top pick for your list)
[name_f]Leena[/name_f]
[name_f]Layna[/name_f]
Léan ([name_m]Lay[/name_m]-en)
[name_f]Elene[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elin[/name_f] (*my top pick for your list)
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_f]Elina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alena[/name_f]
[name_f]Alaina[/name_f] ([name_f]Alayna[/name_f])
[name_f]Alenka[/name_f] (or Lenka)
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] ([name_f]Nelle[/name_f]) (*top pick for your list)
Mylène
[name_f]Milena[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilona[/name_f]
By any chance is [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] (and Troian, as in who plays her, assuming Troyian is a typo) due to PLL? Lol. I like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] from your lists, but also vetoed [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] from my own list (spelled [name_u]Everly[/name_u]) because it reminded me of [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], which is such a mum name. Also, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is a love of mine. It’s gorgeous.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
??
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] I also love. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] would be a great middle to make your masculine names more feminine. Its perfect.
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is magic.
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is gorgeous!
