more name ideas

I’ve been focusing on [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] for my first baby girl, due in [name]December[/name], but want to re-open discussion to include more names. Here’s what I’m thinking for first name and middle name ideas (no particular order). My husband and I would love to get your thoughts on possible combos:

First names:

Middle names:

[name]Natalie[/name] (could be first or middle–or if you have other suggestions of “N” names to honor my husband’s aunt)

Thanks so much–your input is always so helpful.

I like your original [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like the nn [name]Sophie[/name] for [name]Josephine[/name]? I had never thought of it until I saw it on another thread, I think it works. Thought it was worth throwing out.

[name]Natalie[/name] is nice, but it’s gaining popularity (#13) if that bothers you. [name]Julia[/name] is too (#40), [name]Juliet[/name] would be a pretty alternative. Personally though, I don’t think that should stand in your way of a great name.

[name]Alexandra[/name] is nice but I hope you like [name]Lexie[/name]. It’s only three syllables, but [name]Georgina[/name] just seems like a whole lotta name to me. [name]Amelia[/name] is very pretty, but for some reason it just never has appealed to me. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Amelie[/name]? I think [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clara[/name] from your mn list would make great first names.

My favorite mn is [name]Violet[/name]. I like it best with each, except I like [name]Georgina[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name].

Other N names:

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]

(I couldn’t find a home for [name]Claire[/name], because when I put it after names ending in A, I heard eclair, and the name think happened with [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Claire[/name].)

I REALLY love your name options, [name]Caroline[/name], and honestly don’t think you can go wrong!

Best wishes to you!

My fave is [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Claire[/name], but I love all your ideas!

Oh, that’s beautiful, [name]Susan[/name]! I totally forgot about [name]Claire[/name] with [name]Josephine[/name]!

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]

These are all beautiful choices–you’re right, [name]Jill[/name], I can’t go wrong. And thanks, [name]Susan[/name], I too love [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t know how we are going to narrow this down! Thanks for your help.

[name]Natalia[/name] is a lovely, less common, alternative to [name]Natalie[/name]! My favorites from the combos mentioned are these in order, best first –

  1. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
  2. [name]Natalia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (I think [name]Natalia[/name] is fresher and more sophisticated than [name]Natalie[/name])
  3. [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
  4. [name]Georgina[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (the other combos are a bit too much name)
  5. [name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
  6. [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

I am not a [name]Josephine[/name] fan and I feel so guilty about that as my beloved father was named [name]Joe[/name]!

I would like you to use your name as baby’s mn. My all time favourite combo is [name]Ava[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. I would absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] to find someone who gave their baby these names.

[name]Julia[/name] is the sweetest of names and I also love [name]Juliet[/name]

[name]Alexandra[/name] Such a beautiful name, a classic, never out of style. I would avoid the nn of [name]Lexi[/name] though

[name]Georgina[/name] Another beautiful name and I love the nn of [name]Gina[/name] for this one.

[name]Natalie[/name] I used to love it but now I only like it but a great name for a [name]Christmas[/name] baby.

[name]Josephine[/name] Sorry

[name]Amelia[/name] I am fond of this name it is very sweet and has lovely nn’s

[name]Margaret[/name] This works with some names but not all so I would consider [name]Margot[/name] or [name]Marguerite[/name] too.

[name]Clare[/name]/[name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] Dislike but would use the [name]Claire[/name] spelling

[name]Violet[/name] A lovely feminine name

[name]Charlotte[/name] Spunky, trendy classic name

[name]Jane[/name] A really nice name

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Stephanie[/name]

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Antoinette[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Olwyn[/name]

[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Rachael[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Pansy[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Clarice[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jessie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]

I think the names in these combos compliment each other well:

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Clare[/name] – This is one of my best friend’s name and she is just fantastic (so I’m totally biases lol)
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]

[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Clara[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Clare[/name]

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Clara[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]

You’re welcome, [name]Caroline[/name]. I can’t wait to see which name you choose, and hope you’ll keep us posted!

[name]Julia[/name] - lovely and classic.
[name]Alexandra[/name] - again, very nice, and the nn [name]Alex[/name] is quite spunky, despite the popularity of it.
[name]Georgina[/name] - not my favourite, but a lot of people like it and it offers good nn options.
[name]Natalie[/name] - pretty, although it almost seems dated to me.
[name]Josephine[/name] - I just adore, especially the host of nicknames ([name]Jo[/name], [name]Josie[/name], Sephy, [name]Effie[/name], [name]Posy[/name]).
[name]Amelia[/name] - beautiful, and she could be [name]Amy[/name], [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Lia[/name] as a nn … [name]Melia[/name] means ‘honey tree’, too - how nice is that?

[name]Margaret[/name] - I’m not a fan, but as a mn it is fine.
[name]Clare[/name]/[name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] - these are just lovely, especially [name]Clara[/name], and go well with most names as a mn.
[name]Violet[/name] - one of my absolute favourite names.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - quite nice.
[name]Jane[/name] - see [name]Clare[/name].

Have you considered [name]Natasha[/name] as an N name? Also [name]Nola[/name] …

I think the vast majority of your middle names work well with all of your first names, but I have to put in a vote for [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Clara[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Violet[/name].

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] was a naughty doll character in a series of [name]Enid[/name] Blyton children’s books - I think they were called things along the lines of ‘[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is Naughty Again’ etc.

Good luck!

It turns out [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is out of the running – my sister just had a baby girl and used [name]Charlotte[/name] for the middle name. We still have [name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Julia[/name] [name]Violet[/name], but looking for more ideas. A “C”, “N”, or “H” name would be nice to honor family members, but I’m having trouble coming up with good ones that go with [name]Julia[/name]. What do you think of [name]Julia[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]? Or [name]Julia[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]?

Also, I should say, [name]Julia[/name] seems to really stick with us as a first name choice, but I’m not 100% convinced, so still open to new first name ideas. It’s not necessarily my favorite name, or one I ever dreamed of using, but just feels right for both me and my husband. I guess that’s worth something!

[name]Josephine[/name] has a choice of wonderful nicknames: [name]Josie[/name], [name]Posy[/name], [name]Jody[/name], [name]Joey[/name] (for the tomboy), [name]Jo[/name], [name]Sophie[/name]?
I vote for [name]Josephine[/name].

P.S. I, too, like [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Claire[/name]
Also like [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

for an N name, I think [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] sounds good
