I was just wondering what you thought of the name [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you associate it with a boy or a girl and with gender do you prefer it on. Thanks for you views
I know a boy and a girl named [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]. However, the girl [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is one of my best friends, while the guy is just someone I knew for a few years. So, I associate it with my friend [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] (the girl). I think [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is one of those names that works really well on both genders.
I’m not generally into unisex names on girls… but this is one I do like on girls. However, I love it for a boy. Handsome and underused, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
This is one of the few names that is truly unisex for me. I don’t tend to associate it more with one gender or the other and I would not be surprised to find it on either. I know more female Morgans personally, so maybe I associate it with females more, but only slightly and only because I know more girls with the name. I think it works equally well on both genders.
I have a male cousin names [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] but I still immediately associate [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] with females.
Despite being used so much for girls, for me it’s still [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is a boy, and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is a girl.
I agree with squidly that [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] feels truly unisex to me. I do prefer [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] for girls, I still think [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] works fine for either.
I can only see it as a male name, and much prefer it as one.
To me [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is masculine and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is feminine
I like it for a girl first name, because of a little girl at my old work, but then I like it as a MN for a boy because of my old combo [name_m]Julian[/name_m] morgan. So, I’d say I like it both ways.
Definitely boy. I dislike [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] on girls and I’m not that keen on it for boys. It reminds me of the words morgue and organ.
It is a unisex name for me. I have taught both boys and girls with this name. So I can see this on either.
I definitely think of it as a boys’ name.
As well as [name_f]Morgane[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] two other similar-sounding (and also Celtic) girls’ names are Morgen and [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f].
I definitely think of it as a boys’ name.
As well as [name_f]Morgane[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] another similar-sounding (and also Celtic) girls’ name is [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f].
It’s a rare unisex name for me and I think it works fine for both, although the Morgans I have actually known have been boys, and I also think of it as a lovely surname. [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] makes me think of the [name_m]German[/name_m] word ‘morgen’ which means ‘morning’, which is quite a lovely association, and I also know it as a classic Welsh surname (my surname is another classic Welsh one).
I prefer [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] on a boy, although I don’t mind it on a girl. It sounds extremely masculine to my ear.
I’ve known both boys and girls called [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], but mainly girls, so for that reason I’ll say girls name.
To me, its a little too feminine for boys but too masculine for girls.
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u] used to be all girl to me, but then I met a boy named [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], so now I associate the name with him.
I agree that it’s overall pretty unisex, but I prefer it on boys all the way.
I agree with this.
