You all helped me name my first son in 2010, and now I need your help again. I just found out I am expecting another BOY. He is due [name]October[/name] 9. Like [name]Morgan[/name], this baby will have two middle names. The first will be [name]Robert[/name] after my grandfather who recently passed, and the second will be his Korean name (to be determined). DH is Korean and I am multiracial. Having a name that isn’t too specific to any one ethnicity is important to us. We plan to have 4 or 5 kids and would prefer not to start a “theme” with our kids’ names (so trying to avoid two M or -n names in a row). The way a name sounds in full is not that important to us. Also, as you can tell from [name]Morgan[/name]'s name, we are not afraid of unisex names more popular for girls.
Below are the names we’re considering right now, and I would love to hear your comments and suggestions. Thanks!
[name]Beckett[/name] (my favorite but DH is unsure)
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Reid[/name] (we both like but we’re Criminal Minds fans and automatically think Agent [name]Morgan[/name] and Dr. [name]Reid[/name])
[name]Spencer[/name] (same problem as above)
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Ah[/name], who doesn’t love Agent [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name] & [name]Reid[/name] do seem really good together because they are both last names but the idea of [name]Reid[/name] [name]Robert[/name] puts me off.
I have three clear favourites; [name]Avery[/name], [name]Spencer[/name] & [name]Caleb[/name] - all three names are perfect and I’ve considered them all alongside [name]Morgan[/name] as a first or middle name and I think as siblings they fit together so well. I’d love you to have 4 sons with the possibility of them being named [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Spencer[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name].
[name]Caleb[/name] [name]Robert[/name], [name]Avery[/name] [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Robert[/name] all sound fine, so it might just depend on your last name.
Like you, I adore names like [name]Avery[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Harper[/name] on boy’s. So you might like [name]Harper[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name], [name]Arden[/name], [name]Darby[/name], [name]Sutton[/name], [name]Blair[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name], [name]Ambrose[/name], [name]Francis[/name], [name]Remy[/name]?
I really like all the names on your list! If your husband is unsure about [name]Beckett[/name], how about [name]Bennett[/name]?
I wouldn’t notice the Criminal Minds reference if you used [name]Reid[/name] or [name]Spencer[/name]… but then again I don’t watch Criminal Minds!
If I had to pick, my favorite pairings with [name]Morgan[/name] would be [name]Beckett[/name] / [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], or [name]Spencer[/name]. But I think all of the names on your list are great.
I love [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] together for boys! [name]Morgan[/name] is on my list and I [name]Felix[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] [name]Avery[/name] on my boys list. I like a lot of the popular “unisex” names that people use for girls on boys.
I [name]LOVE[/name] several names on your list, and they’re also on mine. I love [name]Avery[/name], [name]Reid[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Grant[/name], and [name]Elliot[/name]. And I feel your pain on the Criminal Minds thing. I realized the same issue with both that and Leverage on my list. I figure that in 10 years, no one other than you and and your DH will realize the connection. I say use them if you love them.
I think my favorites from your list are [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name].
[name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] or [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are my favorites. There is something very appealing to me about [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name].
I think [name]Morgan[/name] & [name]Spencer[/name] or [name]Morgan[/name] & [name]Avery[/name] go best together simply based on your naming style. Good luck!
I’ve never seen Criminal Minds so I don’t recognize the connection. [name]Don[/name]'t care for [name]Reid[/name] [name]Robert[/name] but [name]Reece[/name] [name]Robert[/name] is a good alternative. I also like the suggestion of [name]Bennett[/name]. [name]Beckett[/name] is too harsh. [name]Avery[/name] is my favorite.
[name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name] (I prefer this spelling as it is clearly male) The only thing is they are both Welsh so would it make a theme?
I also liked:
[name]Spencer[/name] (I particularly like this as it doesn’t bring a particular race to my mind)
[name]Elliott[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
What about:
[name]Benton[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Bryce[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name]
Thanks for the replies. I discussed this briefly with DH at lunch, and we’ve narrowed our list down to this:
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Reece[/name] (decided we liked this spelling better)
[name]Spencer[/name]
I would consider [name]Harper[/name] if I wasn’t saving [name]Harp[/name] for a girl. [name]Harp[/name] was my [name]Nana[/name]'s maiden name, and [name]Harp[/name]/[name]Harper[/name] makes me think of her. After we named [name]Morgan[/name] I found out my [name]Nana[/name]'s daddy was named [name]Morgan[/name] too. My grandfather [name]Robert[/name] was my [name]Nana[/name]'s son, so [name]Morgan[/name], this baby, and our first girl will all have connections to my mom’s side of the family.
