Most Hated Boys Names

So, there is a thread for most hated girls names but not boys, so, what are your most hated boys names?

For me, no offence to anyone!
☆ [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] - Now, I don’t normally mind the -[name_u]Ayden[/name_u] bunch, I like [name_m]Caden[/name_m] (only spelt this way) & [name_m]Braden[/name_m] but [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] is so overused. Why make such a lovely name - [name_u]Jay[/name_u] - into something long and trendy!
☆ [name_u]James[/name_u] - To me it’s not a bad name but its overused and overrated im my opinion. If people can complain about [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_f]Jane[/name_f] being fillers, I can complain about [name_u]James[/name_u].
☆ [name_m]Keith[/name_m] - I have no idea why I hate this so much! It’s just ugly I’m my opinion.
☆ [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - see [name_m]Keith[/name_m]. I know [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is loved across nameberry, I just don’t understand why.
☆ Putting a K instead of a C, example; [name_u]Kasey[/name_u], [name_m]Konner[/name_m]/[name_m]Konnor[/name_m], [name_m]Kaleb[/name_m], [name_m]Kaden[/name_m], [name_u]Karson[/name_u] etc. They just look made up! What’s wrong with C!?!
☆ Anykind of misspelled name example; [name_u]Jae[/name_u]/[name_u]Jai[/name_u]/[name_u]Jaye[/name_u], Deekin, [name_u]Maison[/name_u] (you’re pretty much calling your kid ‘house’), [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] etc

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]- I know my fellow berries love it, but it’s always sounded like sick to me

[name_m]George[/name_m]- I swear this is the most boring name IN THE WORLD

[name_m]Wayne[/name_m]- I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I just can’t stand it

I really dislike the names [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], [name_u]Leith[/name_u]/[name_m]Keith[/name_m], [name_m]Warren[/name_m], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], [name_m]Roland[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_m]Absalom[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Barney[/name_m], and many more much due to sound of them.

@izzie: I think [name_m]Keith[/name_m] [name_m]Richards[/name_m] makes [name_m]Keith[/name_m] very cool, and [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] does the same for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. :wink:
As for me, I don’t like [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_m]Lucius[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Gage[/name_m], [name_m]Marvin[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]/[name_m]Augustine[/name_m]/[name_u]Gus[/name_u], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], [name_m]Carl[/name_m] and [name_m]Ludwig[/name_m]. I don’t hate any names though.

With the exceptions of [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Arrow[/name_m], I don’t like any boy names that start with Ar. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], and similar names just sound very unappealing to me. I’m not sure why, as I like [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m], and plenty of girls names beginning with the same sound.

edit: clarifying that I don’t actually hate any of these names, I just dislike them

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] - i think it’s because it sounds like soya. I don’t know, I just dislike it
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] -I dislike the connotations

No hate intended to those who love those names!

If there was a way to change the title to the thread I would. I didn’t realize that hate sounded so harsh! Sorry guys! Let’s pretend it says dislike.

Names I dislike because they sound old/dated:

[name_m]Arnold[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbert[/name_m], [name_m]Marvin[/name_m], [name_m]Mervin[/name_m], [name_u]Vernon[/name_u], [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/[name_m]Fred[/name_m], [name_m]Horace[/name_m], [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], [name_m]Hubert[/name_m], [name_m]Humphrey[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Harold[/name_m], [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Donald[/name_m], [name_m]Ronald[/name_m], [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], [name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_u]Gary[/name_u], [name_m]Dennis[/name_m], [name_m]Alvin[/name_m], [name_m]Herman[/name_m], [name_m]Floyd[/name_m], [name_m]Myron[/name_m], [name_m]Norman[/name_m], [name_m]Mortimer[/name_m], [name_m]Helmut[/name_m], [name_m]Rodney[/name_m]

Names I dislike because they sound nerdy &/or pretentious & not in a cute way:

[name_u]Sheldon[/name_u], [name_m]Sherman[/name_m], [name_m]Cecil[/name_m], [name_m]Cyril[/name_m], [name_m]Milton[/name_m], [name_u]Percy[/name_u]/[name_m]Percival[/name_m], [name_u]Claude[/name_u], [name_m]Dudley[/name_m], [name_m]Roderick[/name_m]

Names I dislike because they have a hayseed/hillbilly/not-so-bright image:

[name_m]Barney[/name_m], [name_m]Hank[/name_m], [name_m]Elmer[/name_m], [name_m]Homer[/name_m], [name_m]Abner[/name_m], [name_u]Clem[/name_u], [name_m]Earl[/name_m], [name_m]Lem[/name_m]/[name_m]Lemuel[/name_m], [name_m]Zeke[/name_m], [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]

Names I dislike because of association w/a negative image:

[name_m]Elmo[/name_m], [name_m]Wayne[/name_m], [name_m]Bruce[/name_m], [name_u]Barry[/name_u], [name_m]Jarod[/name_m], [name_m]Dave[/name_m], [name_m]Steve[/name_m], [name_u]Willie[/name_u], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Zach[/name_m]

FYI, I’m approaching my mid-50s, so my idea of what sounds dated is going to be somewhat different from many posters here…

Can’t stand overly macho “cool” names like [name_m]Cash[/name_m], [name_m]Jett[/name_m], [name_m]Ryker[/name_m], [name_m]Colton[/name_m], [name_m]Braxton[/name_m], [name_u]Bentley[/name_u], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], etc. I hear them constantly and it’s time to give them a break y’all. On the other hand I love “old/dated” names and luckily enough for you there aren’t herds of parents giving those names to their kids in 2017 so I don’t see the point in complaining about them.

Word names! Most of them, anyway. I don’t mind most animal or rock/gem names, though, but other words just aren’t my favorite. Like [name_u]Blaze[/name_u], [name_m]Danger[/name_m], [name_u]Blue[/name_u], etc.

Also the -ayden bunch. I don’t mind [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] itself too much, but the ones with a prefix just rub my the wrong way. It might be that my ex-boyfriend’s name is [name_u]Braeden[/name_u]. But especially [name_u]Jayden[/name_u]!

And alternative spellings. [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_u]Dillon[/name_u], etc.

Direction names: [name_u]Easton[/name_u], [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. My cousins have three boys and a girl named, in order: [name_m]Winston[/name_m], Heston, [name_m]Weston[/name_m], and [name_m]Houston[/name_m]. ([name_m]Houston[/name_m] is the girl)

Off of that, sibsets that are just too matchy.

And violent-leaning names, like [name_m]Shooter[/name_m], [name_m]Dagger[/name_m], [name_m]Danger[/name_m], and [name_u]Rebel[/name_u]. I don’t mind names that pay tribute to things like them, like [name_u]Remington[/name_u].

I also, for whatever reason, really dislike the names [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] and [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]. I respect the choices and the style of the names, but something about them just seeems off.

Plus, practically every [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] on Tinder has a bio that mentions something about how the name can be rearranged to spell “romance”.

Modern/Invented names that seem like they’ll age poorly and are overtly masculine (with lots of k,x,z letters):
[name_m]Braxton[/name_m], -[name_u]Ayden[/name_u] names, [name_m]Nash[/name_m], [name_m]Ryker[/name_m], [name_m]Daxton[/name_m]

Names with the ‘th’ sound:
[name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]

No offense to anyone… this is just my personal taste. And then again, I’ve often started out disliking a name, only to find it grows on me and slowly becomes a favorite. Haha, anyone else?!

No offense to anyone who likes these names. This is just my personal taste.

Names I hate:
[name_m]Adolf[/name_m]- Hitler
[name_m]Heinrich[/name_m]- Himmler
[name_m]Rudolph[/name_m]- Hess, and red-nosed reindeer
[name_m]Donald[/name_m]- Pretty obvious
[name_m]Ethelbert[/name_m]- I know this was my paternal great-great-great- grandfather’s name, but still…
[name_m]Hubert[/name_m]
[name_m]Hermann[/name_m]- Goering

Names I don’t hate, but don’t particularly like either:
[name_m]Byron[/name_m]- My dad’s former friend, who is now dead to us.
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]- [name_m]Just[/name_m]…no.
Drayven
[name_u]Brayden[/name_u]- Not so much the name, but this spelling puts me off. I prefer [name_m]Braden[/name_m] myself.
[name_m]Ulrich[/name_m]- Meh.
[name_m]Frank[/name_m]- Boring. Sorry to my paternal grandfather and great-grandfather, but it’s just…well, boring.
[name_m]Kurt[/name_m]
[name_m]Herbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronald[/name_m]

[name_m]Ludwig[/name_m]
[name_u]Gary[/name_u]
[name_m]Dennis[/name_m]
[name_m]Rudolph[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m]
[name_m]Ransom[/name_m]
[name_m]Braxton[/name_m]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u]
[name_m]Byron[/name_m]
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m]
[name_m]Brian[/name_m] / [name_m]Bryan[/name_m]
[name_m]Gunner[/name_m]

[name_u]Seth[/name_u]. Hate it. Makes me think of snakes. Also not a fan of [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. S’s bug me I think!

[name_m]Herbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Roger[/name_m]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_u]Corey[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]
[name_m]Clinton[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Burton[/name_m]
[name_f]Bernice[/name_f]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u]
[name_m]Bob[/name_m]
[name_m]Dick[/name_m]
[name_m]Morton[/name_m]
[name_m]Merton[/name_m]
[name_u]Kyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Keith[/name_m]
[name_u]Corbin[/name_u]
[name_m]Frank[/name_m] (I like [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], though.)
[name_m]Chet[/name_m], [name_m]Chester[/name_m]
[name_m]Lester[/name_m]
[name_m]Earnest[/name_m]
[name_m]Horace[/name_m]

I wanted to add that I think [name_m]Dagger[/name_m] and names like that are not okay for a child.

[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]
[name_m]Fin/name_m
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]

Stupid made-up sounding names…
[name_m]Huxley[/name_m]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u]
[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]
etc.
(a lot of names with x’s in them)

These are what I hate the most. just terrible names…

[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] the sound of the ending of those type of names bug me for some reason lol

[name_m]Braxton[/name_m]- Mainly because of [name_m]Braxton[/name_m] Hicks, but it’s also really not my style. There are more modern trendy boys names I’m also not a fan of, although there are exceptions.

Quite a few short names that have a really unappealing image to me; [name_m]Chad[/name_m], [name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_m]Seb[/name_m], [name_m]Nate[/name_m], [name_m]Brock[/name_m] (especially [name_m]Brock[/name_m], it sounds so harsh and brutish), [name_m]Brad[/name_m], [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. I’ve found if I have a really good association with them I can get over the dislike a little. E.g. I now know a [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] nn [name_m]Brad[/name_m], who’s really nice, and the [name_u]Tate[/name_u] galleries and a character (sort of) means [name_u]Tate[/name_u] is off the hook despite being a similar style.

[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]- I just dislike the sound, and again bad imagery.

  • ayden names- Overdone, boring, unoriginal. [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] and maybe [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] are fine though.

Most -iah names and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]/[name_m]Eli[/name_m]/[name_u]Elias[/name_u]- I just hear them mentioned a lot, and I’m already fed up of them.

I don’t know if I hate these names, I just don’t like them… No offense to anyone who likes these names!

[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_u]Jayden[/name_u]
