Prime (boy)
[name_f]Nirvana[/name_f] (girl) & [name_u]Zen[/name_u] (boy) were brother and sister.

Edit: I forgot Tuesday!
My mom had a little girl in her class with the full name [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]. I haven’t heard it on any other young kids but we agreed it’s really charming!
I have worked as a babysitter and have worked as a TA in three schools, I have quite a list.
Nevaeh -I babysat a girl called [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] and I sometimes went places with her mum to help her out and every time she introduced her daughter she would always say “it’s heaven spelt backwards” and sometimes she added “it is because she came to us from heaven”, I found it a bit cringe
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u] -The first time I heard this name was when I babysat a boy named [name_u]Tatum[/name_u], he was sweet but his parents were a nightmare, not only were they rude but they sometimes didn’t pay me or it would be payed late. They also told off their son often and would shout “[name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] (fake surname)! get here now!”, he was actually a well behaved boy but he is autistic so he can appear rude but I don’t think his parents handled it properly
[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] -Not a fan of this name and the boy wasn’t my favourite to babysit
[name_f]Fruma[/name_f] -The name is okay but the girl was very nasty to staff and bullied the other students in class
[name_m]Travis[/name_m] -[name_m]Just[/name_m] not a fan of it though I can see the appeal
[name_f]Devorah[/name_f] -I actually liked this one and the girl was just the most lovely child and her parents nicknamed her [name_f]Bee[/name_f] (the meaning of her name) which was adorable
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] -Another one I liked but never heard of before, the girl was very shy though and I think it didn’t really suit her because of that
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] -I only ever heard this as a nickname for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] but it was actually her full name, quite cute but I personally think it is best as a nickname or middle name though, she did suit her name well
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] -I never expected to have a [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] in the class and she was hardly ever called [name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Kia[/name_f] -Babysat a girl called [name_f]Kia[/name_f] and though she was cute, it just reminded me of the car
[name_m]Fergus[/name_m] -I honestly never heard of this name before I worked at a school, he was very rude, he once hit me on the bottom and he once called me the c word, he was 9 years old so I was very shocked (I do wonder what his home life is like and I did brought it up to the head teacher but she was friends with his parents and dismissed me)
[name_f]Monique[/name_f] -Not a fan of the name or the child’s parents
[name_u]Unique[/name_u] -I had three [name_u]Unique[/name_u]’s in one school, it isn’t [name_u]Unique[/name_u] and the [name_u]Unique[/name_u] I had in my class was very shy and her parents were horrid
[name_u]Harlow[/name_u] -Okay name, I don’t like it but I don’t hate, the boy was sweet
[name_m]Victor[/name_m] -I didn’t have him in my class but he was the year below my class, he was very shy and I did work with him a few times as I am a SEN support assistant, not fussed on the name but very surprised to find it in a primary school
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] -Not a fan of this name but the boy was sweet
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] -I thought her name was short for [name_f]Judy[/name_f] but no, it is a full name. It suited her well, she was a kind girl. Not a fan of the name but would be a good middle name though
[name_u]Sparrow[/name_u] -I actually loved this name and this little girl was one of my favourites to babysit, she was nicknamed Row Row and I thought it was cute
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u] -[name_f]Sister[/name_f] to [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u], lovely girl just like her sister. Her nickname was [name_u]Loni[/name_u] which I never would have thought was a nickname for [name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_f]Midge[/name_f] -Cute girl, cute name
[name_m]Hendrick[/name_m] -The boy was okay, his parents were very cruel and difficult. Not a fan of this name though I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] -Brother of [name_m]Hendrick[/name_m], he was very quiet compared to his brother. I quite like this name
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] -Brother of [name_m]Hendrick[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], he was the youngest and the rudest, not a fan of this name
This was just a few, there are more. I also wanted to say a girl I worked with was named [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f] [name_u]Rynn[/name_u] and I honestly still love her name anytime I think about it.
I also babysat brothers named [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] one time and all I could think of were turtles
I work(ed , thanks COVID) at a Children’s Museum and met a ton of kiddos with interesting names (honestly really led me to believe you can name a child anything and it will be so fine).
Some of the most stand-out ones:
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
Chippy
[name_u]Pascale[/name_u]
[name_m]Kalel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jeter[/name_m]
[name_m]Victoriano[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] called Solmby
[name_m]Barley[/name_m]
Charleaux
Yneira (y’NAIR-ah)
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_u]Fran[/name_u]-[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Althea[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_u]Cricket[/name_u]
[name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]
Zudi
Kataria
Dayonara
I’m struggling with how to say Solmby. Are all the letters pronounced or is the L or M silent? I honestly can’t work it out
Is Charleaux pronounced like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_m]Charlo[/name_m]?
Yneira looks like a misspelling of [name_f]Aneira[/name_f] to me.
When I first heard his nanny say it, I thought she’d called him Zombie-- it’s more like PSALM-by! Charleaux was pronounced like [name_m]Charlo[/name_m], yes!
I always thought Yneira was so pretty & powerful!
Yuge. She got a lot of Trump-related teasing.
Her name was actually pronounced YOO-guh though.
I haven’t taught many unusual names, what struck me was the number of parents who picked out a name less popular to avoid duplicates that ended up duplicated.
EG: [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] x4 or 5
Other names I’ve taught a lot of are:
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]/Ollie
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/Alex
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_f]Flo[/name_f]/Flossy
Edit: Oh, I will be teaching a [name_u]Raven[/name_u] this year. Thought that was pretty unusual.
I’ve taught several “[name_u]Unique[/name_u]”s as well
Other names:
Chanyce (pronounced [name_u]Chance[/name_u] for a boy )
Xaidee
Boh
Trouble- yep they were trouble!
[name_f]Neveah[/name_f]
Shikobi
Nizo (full name was [name_m]Nazir[/name_m])
Frej
Qihong
Ryusuke (went by [name_m]Ryu[/name_m])
Also, I knew a kid named [name_m]Wilmer[/name_m], but for some reason he went by [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]. No idea why.
When I was a kid, I went to summer camp with a boy named Daedelus. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom also told me she went to school with a girl called [name_f]Sesame[/name_f], and another time she babysat a boy named [name_u]Steel[/name_u] [name_u]Blue[/name_u].
