Most likely nickname for Genevieve?

You know a [name]Genevieve[/name]; what is the first nickname you think of calling her? If she asks to be known by a less conventional, un-obvious nickname instead, could you get used to it?

The most immediate nickname I can think of would be [name]Genny[/name]/[name]Jenny[/name]. But if my friend asked me to call her/introduced herself as another nickname, I could definitely get used to it.

Did you have an nicknames in mind?

[name]Genna[/name] (the NN I was going to use when I considered the name about 7 years ago) is what I think of first, then [name]Eve[/name] next as common NN’s. I like the NN’s [name]ViVi[/name] or [name]Viv[/name] or even [name]Nev[/name] for less common alternatives. My [name]SIL[/name] just has a [name]Genevieve[/name] and my kids are calling her [name]Genna[/name]-[name]Bee[/name] and [name]Genna[/name]-Bean because they can’t say it right yet but I’m sure thats not a NN an adult would want.

It’s the name I’m changing mine to next year, so I’m just curious as to what nicknames I would get. I don’t mind [name]Gen[/name], [name]Genna[/name], [name]Genny[/name] and [name]Eve[/name], but also like the idea of [name]Ivy[/name] as a nickname. I think that might be a bit too much of a stretch for most people to get though!

My friend’s little [name]Genevieve[/name] goes by [name]Vivi[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] it!

I know 2 Genevieves. A (very plain, but also very obvious) [name]Genny[/name], and the more eccentric [name]Vivie[/name] which I just adore (tried it out as a nickname for [name]Olivia[/name] for a while - didn’t catch on). Another favourite of mine is [name]Eva[/name] which is very cute, but a bit popular. [name]Ivy[/name] could work, but I agree - it’s a bit of a stretch. Also, I’m not really too fond of using actual stand alone names as nicknames, particularly word names, and names as strong as [name]Ivy[/name].

I loved [name]Jenna[/name]/[name]Genna[/name] for years, for some reason. It’s pretty, but it’s a bit plain.

I like [name]Vivi/name too, and [name]Eva[/name] I do like [name]Jenna[/name] a lot, so I’m cool with getting [name]Genna[/name], even though it is plain.

All three Genevi”ve’s I went to school with went by [name]Gen[/name]. I really think that this is the nickname others would assume unless someone were to introduced themselves as that (like [name]Genny[/name], [name]Genna[/name], [name]Vivi[/name]). I like [name]Eve[/name] would work the best but it’s a common name where I live so that’s probably why no one used it. To me, [name]Ivy[/name] seems like a pretty big stretch, but if that’s what you use to introduce yourself then people will use it.
