Most popular names for Nameberryite's kids

Nobody (as far as I know) has done this on here, so I’m starting a thread where we can keep track on what our children’s names are (right now I don’t have any to contribute though). In the post below I will keep a running count of what names are used by our members and how many, as well as a list of the most popular ones for each gender. Middle name stats are mentioned in post #138 (the eighth post on page #14, if the standard 10 posts per page are displayed).

Each member is welcome to post their kid’s names (first name as well as middle name(s) if you want to, but not the last name for security purposes). If the gender is not immediately apparent please be sure and mention that as well. It would be helpful to also post the year that the child was born, so we can gauge how the name fits into the trends of the time (e.g. [name]Ashley[/name] 20 years ago was in a different fashion state than it is now). If the birth is a twinset or higher-order multiples also indicate that. Unless you’ve been a location-hopper at the international level you might also mention the general geographic area that you live in (especially if you’re outside of the U.S.), so we can also gauge how the name fits into regional trends.

This list is intended to compile a list of those children that (at least theoretically) we had a role in naming, so stepchildren won’t be included in the stats. [name]Do[/name] include adopted children though.

Here’s my running list of stats (current as of post #368, which is by kate_mc). Names below are mentioned in order of number of uses by our members from most to least popular (with the number indicated if it’s two or more); for names used the same number of times they’re in alphabetical order. Like the SSA list each spelling will be counted separately; if you’d like to combine the spellings yourself you can do so.

Number of different names: 192 boys, 203 girls. Note that names appearing for both genders are counted as separate names for each gender in this count.

My kids:
[name]Sterling[/name] [name]Dylan[/name]–11
[name]Josiah[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]–7
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Faith[/name]–5
[name]Brielle[/name] [name]Natalia[/name]–2
[name]Kingston[/name] [name]Marcus[/name]–2

My husband and I tried to choose names for our children that were definitely heard of, but not too popular where we live. I think we accomplished that with all our kids. Another thing that was important to us was to not to have any of our kids have a name that started with the same letter, and initials couldn’t be the same in any way. We also did not want any of the names to end in the same sound. I really, really like the name [name]Josiah[/name], it’s probably my favorite, because it’s fresh, Biblical, and spunky. I only started liking it about two years before [name]Sterling[/name] was born, and I swore if I had another son, [name]Josiah[/name] would be his name. I have only met two [name]Josiahs[/name] in my life, and they are both wonderful people. [name]Josiah[/name] is such a great name and it suits my son perfectly!!!

Still TTC, secretly hoping for 2 girls 1 boy and have their names already chosen. Probably not counted in the poll, but figured I’d share

Middle names are from family. We’re in Southern [name]California[/name].

About two weeks ago, I noticed for the first time that, coincidentally, all my kids’ middle names happen to end with the N sound, and that two of my twin sister’s three kids’ middle names end with N too.

[name]Alexander[/name] Ikaika- 2003

G/G twins:

My girls were born in [name]Ireland[/name]. If you are curious their names are pronounced Ee-fa [name]Ash[/name]-leeng (soft almost silent ‘g’) and Seer-sha Ay-deen.
I am six months pregnant with a boy whom might be called either [name]Eamonn[/name] or [name]Fionn[/name] (Ay-mon or [name]Finn[/name] or Feen depending on whom you speak to.)
This is a great idea!

I have a [name]James[/name] [name]Walter[/name].
