[name_m]Just[/name_m] for fun! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know if a first name for Mrs [name_m]Claus[/name_m]? If not, what would you name her? :christmas_tree::mrs_claus:t2:

I don’t think there’s a canonical name for her. Typically I see either [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or some variant of [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]. Since the word for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] in my native language is “jul”, I see a lot of Mrs [name_m]Claus[/name_m] named [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and variants of that as well.

I suppose you could also look to [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] Bates’ 1889 poem that popularised Mrs [name_m]Claus[/name_m] as a concept. It’s called Goody [name_f]Santa[/name_f] [name_m]Claus[/name_m] on a Sleigh Ride . Goody isn’t meant to be a name here, but I suppose it could be? [name_u]Or[/name_u] you could do [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_m]Claus[/name_m] as a sort of honor? That’s probably what I would do.

I’ve seen some versions of [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Julia[/name_f] throughout time! :gift: But if I had to name her, I’d call her

[name_f]Natalya[/name_f] [name_f]Joye[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_u]Holly[/name_u] followed by Natalie/Natalia or maybe [name_f]Joy[/name_f] but [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_u]Carol[/name_u] are also really good ideas.

Mrs. Claus was the creation of James Rees in his book 1849 book “Mysteries of City Life"

Rees is the first to name Mrs. Claus as well, giving her the name Gertrude in his stories.

Although, uncanonically, pop culture has given her the name Jessica, Mary, Layla, Martha and Holly.

Some ideas of mine for Mrs. Claus:

Myra
Aino
Meri
Klementyna
Asta
Ilta
Radmila
Nadejda
Estera
Leila
Noora
Agniészka
Pipsa
Elsa
Minttu
Virva
Aurora
Réka
Lilia
Bóglarka
Natalya
Mette
Jutta
Miroslava
Satu
Ilona
Tilda
Helmi
Erendira
Vieno
Selma
Astrid
Dagmar
Kreeta
Ida
Lumi

Many of these are Finnish since Santa Klaus is in Finland  Some others are Slavic, or from other languages.

Maybe [name_f]Myra[/name_f], after the birthplace of [name_u]Saint[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]?

I like [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] as well.

I’ve seen [name_u]Carol[/name_u] and [name_f]Anya[/name_f] used in films.

If I had to name her, I think I’d choose something vaguely christmassy (in vibe at least):

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_m]Claus[/name_m]
[name_f]Candice[/name_f] ‘Candy’ [name_m]Claus[/name_m]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Claus[/name_m]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_m]Claus[/name_m]

I would say [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

According to ye old Rankin-Bass productions, her name is [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]. (Santa [name_m]Claus[/name_m] is coming to town) :joy:

Not quite the name I would have chosen…perhaps [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], or [name_u]Carol[/name_u] would fit better. [name_u]Or[/name_u] something turn-of-the century/1920s so [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Ethel[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

her name was [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] in a story I read as a child, so that’s really stuck!

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] comes to mind first! I like that for her. (Also like that it’s a “merry” homophone.)

That Rankin and Bass song featuring [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is burned into my brain

I don’t know that one exists, but if I got to name her, I’d name her Juniper! I feel like I usually hear Carol or Noelle or something like that. I think a Jul- name for her is rather fun, too, like @Foulbaubleofmansvani mentioned.

If not Juniper, I would probably do Ivy?

ETA: Merry and Lucy are really fun ideas for a Mrs. Claus, too!

Yeah [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is the one Im most familiar with, I know the show came about before [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] hit peak popularity but thats definitely not what I would name her. If I were naming her Id probably use something like…

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_u]Alma[/name_u]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (if I was feeling Kitchy)
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]

When I was about 8, this girl in my class told me her name was Joy and I always just believed it lol. But that’s really cool aha!
