Multicultural middle name for Atlas

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

We are team green here and pretty confident that if it’s a boy we will go with either [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. Our surname starts with R ends with O and sounds kind of like [name_m]Romero[/name_m].

Looking for middle names that go with either of those first names. My partner is British [name_f]Indian[/name_f], I’m American with a lot of family connection to Japan. We would ideally like a middle name that honours the [name_f]Indian[/name_f] side (Sanskrit in origin).

[name_m]Even[/name_m] more ideally, if the name is at least pronounceable in Japanese if not also Japanese that would be amazing, but this isn’t a requirement. So far we have [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] (probably our current favourite) , Yoshan, [name_f]Toya[/name_f] (partner not keen), Udai (partner not keen) and [name_u]Jay[/name_u]/[name_u]Jai[/name_u] . Any thoughts on other names in the middle spot? Or any combinations that you like with [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]? Partner is adamantly against two middle names… Sigh…

Thanks!

You have some really excellent name options here!!!

I must say I do love the sound of [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]. Definiteky a strong contender. [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Yoshan is lovely as well.

Some ideas that I could think of that I think work for your multi cultural family:
[name_m]Darshan[/name_m]
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]
Gotam/Gotama
[name_u]Rishi[/name_u]
[name_m]Tarak[/name_m]
[name_m]Kiran[/name_m]
Nandish
Yuvan
Brahma
Deo/Deodan
Ratan
Harish

I kept this list to names of Sanskrit origin that should be pronouncible in Japanese, though there are loads of Japanese names that would go nicely with [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]!

I like both [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]! Great middle choice either way.

I love Hindi and Sanskrit names. [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] surprised me, though, I did not expect that to be Hindi at all. It’s got a flavor of Irish to it.

So, something similar to name combos [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u], [name_f]Indian[/name_f] middle name, and sharing Japanese flavor. Wow, NB is not friendly to Hindi / [name_f]Indian[/name_f] names in lists and name hunts, but I found a few you might like.

[name_m]Sajan[/name_m]
“[name_f]Beloved[/name_f].” Hindi.

[name_m]Jahan[/name_m]
“The World,” hehe, get it? [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] means to carry… okay, I’ll stop. This is Sanskrit, I kinda love the history behind it.
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Jahan[/name_m] / [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Jahan[/name_m].

[name_m]Ishaan[/name_m]
“The [name_f]Sun[/name_f].” [name_m]Just[/name_m] pretty as heck. Hindi. This one has a hint of Japanese sound to it, I think. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t rely on me for that, though. Check my username, lol.

[name_m]Ronin[/name_m]
Clearly Japanese/Celtic, with Samurai history, but Hindu sites have their own meanings assigned to it and some love the name.
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Ronin[/name_m] / [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Ronin[/name_m].

Wow! Thanks all for these amazing suggestions. Several of them I had never heard of but love! I love Deodan and [name_m]Jahan[/name_m] and Rohak. Sent them all to the other half and he loves Rohak as a second to [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]. We both like the sound of [name_m]Ronin[/name_m] but don’t like the idea of the name meaning masterless samurai

@awkwarddeafchick you are totally right, there is a shortage of [name_f]Indian[/name_f] names on nameberry. Thanks for pulling those together and the info on meaning! Very helpful!

It sounds like everyone generally thinks [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] goes well with [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], so I think we will keep that and Rohak as our top choices. Feels so strange to be actually picking a potential name for a real person not just hypothetical names I like!

I’ll post separately about girl names too! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the collective power of name knowledge available here.

My favorites are [name_m]Jahan[/name_m] and [name_m]Sahil[/name_m]. Rohak is pretty. I’m so glad the list helped! It was exciting to put these together for a baby. Many blessings to you and yours!
