[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl coming later this year, apparently we have to come up with a name for her. For her whole life! Our top three of the moment are:
Our chief considerations are that we want something unusual, pleasing to say and hear, and strong. Our top three hit these marks to varying degrees. Interested in your thoughts about these three names, or other names we might consider. Thank you.
Congrats on your baby girl!
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u] sounds a little boyish for me.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] reminds me too much of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] the duck.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is perfect!
I have to suggest [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Carmela[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Regina[/name_f], [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u].
These names are very different from each other I love [name_u]Murphy[/name_u]! It’s A unisex name but would fit right in today and seems the more unusal choice among the ones you have chosen.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] has never been a favorite of mine but Its a sweet name and I haven’t heard it here. It is a common little flower but is cheerful and sunny.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but I feel thats growing in popularity.
As far as other choices…
I like the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u] for a girl but doesn’t touch [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] in my opinion.
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] are my favorite flower names
[name_f]Elnora[/name_f], Alora, [name_f]Leora[/name_f], and [name_f]Lorna[/name_f] are more unusual choices in my opinion.
Wow, I wouldn’t expect to see [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] on the same list as [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] fits your criteria perfectly. [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], or [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] would work too. Or the more rare Aderyn?
I am torn between [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (which seems too big for a little girl for me, and I almost can’t see it on anyone. It’s gorgeous, but sometimes it feels TOO gorgeous to me, which I don’t even know how that works. But that’s the impression for me…) and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (which is SO adorable, but too cutesy for me to want to put anything with it…). I think I’d personally do [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I’ve heard of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], and I think that’s the best of both worlds!
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u], meh. I’m sorry. I also don’t get it. One of my brother’s best friends has just gotten out of a serious relationship with a [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] (a girl), and I still can’t wrap my mind around it as a girls’ name. It doesn’t even sound like a boys’ name to me, only a surname, but especially not a girls’ name, unfortunately! Sorry.
Well, [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] is the name of my father’s male dog. So, I just can’t get behind that, I’m sorry. I do like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], though. I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ages better so I’d have to go with that.
I think a female [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] would have a tough time in school and on the job market, but if you really like it I would put it in the middle spot and call her by that!
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is not common, but I feel like a lot of other [name_u]Ade[/name_u]- names are ([name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], etc) so it adds to the familiarity while still being uncommon, which could be good or bad for you.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] I like very much. I think it’s rather unusual while still familiar.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is the best - feminine and sophisticated. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is too cutesy/hippy for a woman, in my opinion. [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] is boyish, clunky, doggish to me and doesn’t fit with a sweet baby girl growing into a teenager and sophisticated working woman.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is my favourite. I don’t know how much of a stretch this is, but [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] could work? It has some of the letters there, I kind of love it, actually.
I like your choices, but I dont love them. [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] is one of those that I do love, but I would worry what others think (which is stupid I know). Personally, I like boyish names on girls, as long as they arent too trendy or too obviously boys names.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is a little sweet for my taste. It works on a child, but not an adult.
I do really like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] or [name_u]Addison[/name_u] though.
Looking at your choices so far, here are some I think you may like
