Muslim Boy Names

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]- we are expecting a baby boy in [name_f]February[/name_f].

We are finding it very difficult to come to an agreement for a cute baby name that works well in the US as well as in [name_u]Egypt[/name_u] (where my husband’s family is from).

I find many boy names to be difficult to pronounce for those who do not speak Arabic, and could really use some suggestions.

We already have a [name_m]Mohammad[/name_m], [name_m]Omar[/name_m], and [name_m]Adam[/name_m] so we would prefer to stay away from those.

All suggestions welcome! Thank you

Azdi and Hasni are my all time favourites. I even have Azdi on my list even though I have no Muslim heritage. It’s such a short, sweet and easy name for absolutely everyone.

I worked in this very multicultural environment in a Muslim country and whenever foreigners visited us they would immediately catch on the name Azdi but not the rest :joy:

It’s a small list, but these are the only ones that I’ve heard (an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker in an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking country) that have been easy to pronounce for everyone. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps, good luck!

I’ll be the first on tbe thread to say it (but not think it). The US is sooo racist. Id definitely pick [name_u]Sami[/name_u] over say an [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m] or a [name_m]Husayn[/name_m]. A name is a way for folks to get a sense of someone before they meet them (including to judge them). The way race and politics and all of the hate and discrimination–especially towards males-- have trended in the US, especially recently, I’d recommend picking a name, like you did with [name_m]Adam[/name_m] (and arguably [name_m]Omar[/name_m] too to some extent), that offers a degree of familiarity while still celebrating/honoring his heritage.

Thank you all for these suggestions! Keep them coming— we are starting to make a list from these great ideas :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:
