My all time favorite names are [name_f]Kate[/name_f] & [name_f]Leah[/name_f].
Sadly, I can’t use either one because I have a sister named [name_f]Leah[/name_f] who I see too much to name my child [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and I have another sister named [name_f]Kate[/name_f] who I’m not close with and it would just be weird…
Are there any names that come to mind that are similar to [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or are some variation of either that wouldn’t be awkward to use in my case?
Thank you soooo much!!
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f] are so adorable! Are you opposed to using them as nicknames for longer variations, because if not, I would look into longer names and use nicknames.
Names similar to [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Kathy[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f], [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], and [name_f]Katrina[/name_f].
Names similar to [name_f]Leah[/name_f] are [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f].
I think all of these super fit that [name_f]Kate[/name_f] / [name_f]Leah[/name_f] vibe. You could also kinda smush 'em together for a new, creative name like Katley or Kately, [name_f]Kalea[/name_f] (Hawaiian version of [name_f]Claire[/name_f], apparently!)–or more familiar names like [name_f]Callie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kallie[/name_f]. Also, [name_f]Kailea[/name_f], [name_f]Katelle[/name_f], [name_f]Katine[/name_f]. Or, [name_f]Leana[/name_f], [name_f]Leanore[/name_f]/[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]/[name_f]Leanora[/name_f]/[name_f]Leonora[/name_f].
My favorite of the alternative suggestions are [name_f]Eve[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and my favorite combo names are Katley & [name_f]Leanore[/name_f].
It’s too bad when you don’t feel you can use your favourite names Normally I’d say it’s fine, but in this case it might be a bit close. If you’re close to your sister [name_f]Leah[/name_f] you could use her name as a middle name, as long as you’re okay with people thinking you’re naming your daughter after her (whether you are or not).
What about [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], [name_f]Catriona[/name_f], [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] or [name_f]Kallista[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Kat[/name_f] (or [name_f]Cat[/name_f]), which sounds similar to [name_f]Kate[/name_f]? [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] or [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] would combine some of the sounds of [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f] too.
What about [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] or [name_f]Liv[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Leah[/name_f]? There are also a lot of names with the “lea” sound in it, or similar sounds- what about [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Clea[/name_f] or [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f]? You could use [name_f]Lea[/name_f]/[name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a nickname, even if it’s just one you call her at home and she goes by her full name the rest of the time.
