I always knew I loved the name [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]. When I learned we were having a girl, I pleaded to name our daughter [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Ardis[/name_f]. I was given approval and I was joyous! BUT then my man said it out loud for the first time, and I hated it. Oh how I hated the way it sounded in his lips. It WAS NOT PERFECT!
We sat down to discuss what we wanted, and I was really hoping to use an aunt’s name, [name_f]Ardis[/name_f] or [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. My man jumped on [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. It was his grandmother’s name as well. But we didn’t like any of the middle names. [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]… Well sitting around one day I just blurted out [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. Can we name her [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]? (My grandma is [name_f]Edith[/name_f], it had always been on my list of possibilities.) We thought [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] was beautiful.
To my slightly unwillingness to spell names weird, he requested we change the spelling to incorporate another grandmother, [name_f]Marie[/name_f].
I’m proud to announce the excruciatingly late arrival of my first born daughter:
Mariedith [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. [name_m]Born[/name_m] 11/13/13… 41.4 weeks of cooking produced one big healthy redhead! <3
