My Current Name Crushes--Thoughts?

Here are some of my current name crushes. What do you think? Are any of them worth adding to my ever-changing list?

GIRLS
[name]Winona[/name]
[name]Mavis[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]

BOYS
[name]Shiloh[/name]

I really like [name]Mavis[/name].

I loveeee [name]Winona[/name]! It’s so pretty! I also love [name]Shiloh[/name] for a boy, I like it for a girl but prefer it for a boy!

They’re all really lovely names!

I like [name]Shiloh[/name].

Girls:
[name]Winona[/name]: [name]One[/name] of my favorites
[name]Mavis[/name]: Seems highly old-fashioned, but it sounds okay.
[name]Esther[/name]: Very cute

Boys:
[name]Shiloh[/name]: I’ve never heard this on a boy, but it sounds rather cute.

I love [name]Mavis[/name] and like [name]Shiloh[/name] a lot.

GIRLS
[name]Winona[/name]- For some reason this always reminds me of a chicken. However, it is a pretty name and I see the appeal.
[name]Mavis[/name]- I like [name]Mavis[/name]. It’s a little more harsh than the delicate [name]May[/name], but it kind of works. It just feels like a good name, if you know what I mean.
[name]Esther[/name]- meh. Still an old lady name to me.

BOYS
[name]Shiloh[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] IT! Soft, but masculine. Only problem I see is possible celebrity association.

I like [name]Winona[/name]!

Cool. Thanks for the responses. [name]Do[/name] you guys think [name]Shiloh[/name] would be inextricably linked to the Civil War battle? That’s the only reason I’ve hesitated on the name (the [name]Jolie[/name]-[name]Pitt[/name] thing doesn’t faze me).

I love [name]Esther[/name] and [name]Mavis[/name] has been growing on me , although I still get visions of a certain [name]Brit[/name] soap opera character when i hear it, I’m sure meeting a pretty wee [name]Mavis[/name] would make these disappear completely .

I think in 2013, [name]Shiloh[/name] would provoke more [name]Jolie[/name]-[name]Pitt[/name] connections than Civil War ones.

I like [name]Esther[/name] and REALLY like [name]Mavis[/name]. I’d love to see [name]Mavis[/name] come into play more for contemporary babies. [name]Winona[/name] is kind of “meh” for me; [name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Judd[/name] associations abound.

OK, you are asking for opinions, so I’ll bite. This is just my opinion…

GIRLS

[name]Winona[/name] - I like the “nona” sound, but the “win” sound I don’t like. Winning isn’t everything, I am not a winnie the pooh fan . Also, this name seems over-the-top country to me. I like [name]Willow[/name] better, but I think you’ve got better choices.

[name]Mavis[/name] - Pros: there is a thomas the tank engine female train named [name]Mavis[/name]. Otherwise, to my ear, this name doesn’t sound very feminine, in fact to me it sounds a little threatening, somehow. I prefer [name]Maeve[/name].

[name]Esther[/name] - this is a very wearable name, biblical queen, a little bit chemical (ester is a organic chem term). I know a very cute little “[name]Estie[/name]”

BOYS
[name]Shiloh[/name] - I don’t see an advantage to this name. I think of it as a girls name, but I personally wouldn’t give it to a girl unless I had some connection to a place with this name. I am not a fan of the “shy” sound. I would not have though of the civil war battle, but I guess I think of this vaguely as a place? a valley somewhere warm? I could look it up, but then you wouldn’t have a naive opinion.

Again, just my two cents.
