I went with [name]Calais[/name] because I know of the town in [name]France[/name] named [name]Calais[/name]. I also do like [name]Shale[/name] but I guess it depends on middle and last name as well…I like different/unusal first names with strong/traditional/over used middle/last names. Like, if you’re last name was [name]Jones[/name] or [name]Smith[/name] I could understand how you’d want to create a unique name like [name]Shale[/name] [name]Jones[/name].

I think [name]Calais[/name] might be mispronounced a lot. I thought it was like callus/callis. Same with [name]Shale[/name]. I would think it was pronounced like the rock & rhymed with [name]Shell[/name]. My fav would be Mikari then [name]Shale[/name] then [name]Calais[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you have personal connections to these names? I think they might be appropriate in certain families/areas. They all seem to have a international vibe which is fun. For a boy I def would go with Mikari.

thanks guys really good to hear your thoughts…i loved mikari but then i started to change my mind after seeing lots of bad reviews on made up chav names and wasnt sure if this is what ppl would think of this? i think calais and shale are lovely (unusual but short and sweet) and thought they go nice with the surname [name]Campbell[/name]??? maybe lol

I like Mikari [name]Campbell[/name], but I understand your concern about made-up-sounding names. If you love it you should use it, don’t worry about what other people think. I must admit that I prefer [name]Shale[/name], but for some reason I don’t like names that end in the ee sound, they always sound nicknamey to me. Another name I think of when I hear [name]Shale[/name] is [name]Swain[/name], just a thought.

be aware… [name]Calais[/name] looks an awful like cialis (the medication), which could prove to be a problem when he’s growing up.

I personally don’t like any of these names but out of the three, I think Mikari is the most “normal”… However, I would have to agree with your family on this one. :frowning:

I would assume [name]Shale[/name] was one syllable, like the rock, which I don’t pronounce at all like shell.

For me, most place names, like most words, default to “girl”.

What language is Mikari?

I think that pronunciation of [name]Shale[/name] sounds like forcing a southern accent on what should be a one syllable name. Also rings feminine to me because it reminds me of [name]Shaela[/name]. [name]Calais[/name] sounds definitely like a girl to me. Mikari, I just don’t like. I love the surname [name]Campbell[/name] and I think it sounds amazing with classic or vintage names, as well as lots of other quirky names… But personally I think [name]Campbell[/name] is so charming that you don’t need to go over the top with a first name. Something like [name]Shane[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] or [name]Micah[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] might be a better choice.

I like the overall feel, I think I can gage your taste and I really love [name]Calais[/name] for a girl and [name]Shale[/name] for a boy sib-set!

[name]Calais[/name]- like the french town, super sweet and I would pronounce it correctly!

The second name feels trendy, but I like the sound of Mikari. It does come off as a Mickayla knock-off to me.

[name]Shale[/name]- this is a boys name [name]IMO[/name], it just looks, sounds and spells masculine, but I like it for a boy a lot!

No, I don’t think they are “weird” but people are going to think that because everyone thinks all names are weird until a baby has it.

Blessings,

[name]Bella[/name] <3

I agree with your family.
