[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f]I posted my girls list a few days ago (My Very Long Girls' List), and now it’s time for the boys! As I said there, I’m not currently expecting, but hoping to be soon. I just don’t get quite as excited about boys’ names, so this list probably won’t be quite as long [name_f][/name_f].
- [name_f][/name_f]
- [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]- A name I’ve liked just about as long as [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], probably because of the [name_m]Henry[/name_m] Huggins books. I know he’s gotten very popular, but I love him enough that I don’t want to give him up.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]- he feels like a cozy wool sweater sort of name. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has specifically mentioned liking this one before seeing my list. [name_m]Simon[/name_m] has been toward the top of my list for a while, but this moved him even higher for me. I just think there’s something very sweet about us both liking a name before we even met.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]- I feel like he manages to feel classic but unexpected at the same time and reminds me pleasantly of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Rabbit and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_f]Pevensie[/name_f]. This is another one my husband liked before seeing my list.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Rory[/name_m]- [name_m]Rory[/name_m] seems like a cuddly Celtic name to me, and also very boyish, possibly because I first encountered him on [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who. [name_f]My[/name_f] impression is that a lot of other Americans see him as more unisex, though, which makes me wonder if he would feel out of place with my other names to other people.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]- would [name_m]Rory[/name_m] work as a nickname? I like him independent of the nickname, so that would just be a bonus. On the one hand he gives me gentle, bookworm vibes, but at the same time the association with [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] gives him a certain strength.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]- for the longest, I would always dismiss this as a stereotypical pizza restaurant name. At some point, though, I started thinking of it in more of a [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Van[/name_m] Gogh sort of way, and suddenly it seemed more like a creative, sensitive name. I’m not totally sold on any nicknames yet, but the more I think about it, the more I think a toddler [name_f]Vinnie[/name_f] might actually be pretty adorable.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] (Teddy, at least when he’s little)- for ages, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] was one of my favourite boys’ names. Unfortunately, a personal connection a few years back made it feel unusable for me. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] has much of the same old fashioned gentleman charm that [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] has for me, though, and probably works better with a potential brother [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. Lately [name_m]Ned[/name_m] has been growing on me as a nickname.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]- I’m not sure if he’s [name_m]Just[/name_m] Too Much, at least for a child in the US. But he feels so energetic and joyful, and the sounds of the final syllable just sort of naturally leave my mouth in a smile, and I just can’t be anything but happy when I say him, so he stays on the list.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Abner[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Roland[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Lawrence[/name_m]- for reasons that I can’t really explain and that aren’t particularly founded in ration, I find this spelling warmer than [name_m]Laurence[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Considering:
[name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f]
- [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] (maybe [name_m]Bertie[/name_m], or Gib/Gibbie if that nickname isn’t too long forgotten to be usable)
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] (maybe Ronnie)
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Duncan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Howard[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]
Looking forward to your replies!
