Hello Nameberry!
[name_f][/name_f]I’m not currently expecting, but hoping to be soon, and, of course, as a lifelong name nerd, I’m already thinking about names. I’d love to hear any thoughts on my lists, suggestions, or sibling pairs. I decided to post my boy and girl lists separately since my post was getting pretty long (and is probably still long) [name_f][/name_f]. I’ll hopefully be posting another list in the boys forum soon.

- [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (Pippa)- this has been my favorite name since I was about 7 and heard it in [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of the [name_f]Island[/name_f]. She seems like the perfect combination of elegance and spunk to me. I would plan for the PHIL-ip-a pronunciation.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (Bea) [name_f][/name_f]- my second favorite girl’s name. I absolutely adored [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] as a little girl, and hearing her name brings back so many happy memories of checking out stacks of little books from the library.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (Dottie, [name_f]Dollie[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but might be a stretch)- I first fell in love with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] after reading a journal entry by [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Wordsworth describing the walk that would inspire her brother [name_m]William[/name_m] to write “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” a favorite poem of mine. For me, it’s a name that’s all yellow and spring and daffodils.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (Rosie)/Rosemary (Rose, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], Romy) [name_f][/name_f]- I go back and forth over which I prefer. Roses are my favorite flower. As a name, she’s elegant and romantic but also soft and simple. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], though, is wonderfully cottage-y, with just a hint of wild moors. She also gets me two names for the price of one.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (Daisy, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], or [name_f]Meg[/name_f], don’t mind Maggie)- I like that it’s elegant but with a bit of bounce when you say it, and also that it would connect to my [name_m]French[/name_m] ancestry. It’s an earthy shade of green in my mind that reminds me of misty, drizzly days and wet leaves and moss.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
Susanna(h) (Zuzu, [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], Zanna(h))- I wrote my first official name list on a piece of pink Hello [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] paper at the age of 13. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] was on that list and is one of the few names to still be on my list now, although I think I prefer the h-less spelling these days. She’s bright and sunny, and also a family name. Nickname [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] reminds me of my family’s [name_m]Christmas[/name_m] [name_f]Day[/name_f] tradition of watching It’s a [name_f]Wonderful[/name_f] Life.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]- another name that’s been on my list since the pink Hello [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] paper days. She strikes me as both elegant and sweet.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Willemina[/name_f] (Winnie, maybe [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Mina[/name_f] or Billie) [name_f][/name_f]- I like that the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] spelling is a better phonetic match to the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation. Is [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] too much of a stretch?
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (Emmie, Emma)
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] (June, Junie)
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]- She’s a warm, glowing brown colour to me, a swirl of darker shades with hints of red flowing in lighter golden shades, like the finish on a piece of antique furniture.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (Lucy)- I know many people prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], but there’s just something about [name_f]Louise[/name_f] that has a little extra sparkle to me. I also like the way the I and the E look on either side of the S better than I and A. I picture a little girl who likes to wear twirly dresses in cute retro prints with wader boots and always insists on helping Daddy take care of the chickens. I’d likely plan to use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nickname, since I feel like you can only have one [name_f]Lu[/name_f] name per family, and I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch.
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] - [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (Tibby, Beth)
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]
Some names I’m considering adding to my list:
[name_f][/name_f]Jane/Jeannette (Janie)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Coraline[/name_f] (Cora)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] (Cora)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clemency[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] (Georgie)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Estella[/name_f]
If you made it all the way through my book of a post, I appreciate it! TIA!
