My Very Long Girls' List

Hello Nameberry!

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m not currently expecting, but hoping to be soon, and, of course, as a lifelong name nerd, I’m already thinking about names. I’d love to hear any thoughts on my lists, suggestions, or sibling pairs. I decided to post my boy and girl lists separately since my post was getting pretty long (and is probably still long)[name_f][/name_f]. I’ll hopefully be posting another list in the boys forum soon.

[name_f][/name_f]
    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (Pippa)- this has been my favorite name since I was about 7 and heard it in [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of the [name_f]Island[/name_f]. She seems like the perfect combination of elegance and spunk to me. I would plan for the PHIL-ip-a pronunciation.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (Bea) [name_f][/name_f]- my second favorite girl’s name. I absolutely adored [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] as a little girl, and hearing her name brings back so many happy memories of checking out stacks of little books from the library.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (Dottie, [name_f]Dollie[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but might be a stretch)- I first fell in love with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] after reading a journal entry by [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Wordsworth describing the walk that would inspire her brother [name_m]William[/name_m] to write “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” a favorite poem of mine. For me, it’s a name that’s all yellow and spring and daffodils.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (Rosie)/Rosemary (Rose, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], Romy) [name_f][/name_f]- I go back and forth over which I prefer. Roses are my favorite flower. As a name, she’s elegant and romantic but also soft and simple. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], though, is wonderfully cottage-y, with just a hint of wild moors. She also gets me two names for the price of one.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (Daisy, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], or [name_f]Meg[/name_f], don’t mind Maggie)- I like that it’s elegant but with a bit of bounce when you say it, and also that it would connect to my [name_m]French[/name_m] ancestry. It’s an earthy shade of green in my mind that reminds me of misty, drizzly days and wet leaves and moss.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

Susanna(h) (Zuzu, [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], Zanna(h))- I wrote my first official name list on a piece of pink Hello [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] paper at the age of 13. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] was on that list and is one of the few names to still be on my list now, although I think I prefer the h-less spelling these days. She’s bright and sunny, and also a family name. Nickname [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] reminds me of my family’s [name_m]Christmas[/name_m] [name_f]Day[/name_f] tradition of watching It’s a [name_f]Wonderful[/name_f] Life.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Diana[/name_f]- another name that’s been on my list since the pink Hello [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] paper days. She strikes me as both elegant and sweet.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Willemina[/name_f] (Winnie, maybe [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Mina[/name_f] or Billie) [name_f][/name_f]- I like that the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] spelling is a better phonetic match to the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation. Is [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] too much of a stretch?

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

    [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (Emmie, Emma)

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

    [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] (June, Junie)

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]- She’s a warm, glowing brown colour to me, a swirl of darker shades with hints of red flowing in lighter golden shades, like the finish on a piece of antique furniture.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (Lucy)- I know many people prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], but there’s just something about [name_f]Louise[/name_f] that has a little extra sparkle to me. I also like the way the I and the E look on either side of the S better than I and A. I picture a little girl who likes to wear twirly dresses in cute retro prints with wader boots and always insists on helping Daddy take care of the chickens. I’d likely plan to use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nickname, since I feel like you can only have one [name_f]Lu[/name_f] name per family, and I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch.

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

    [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]

    [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (Tibby, Beth)

    [name_f][/name_f]
  • [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

Some names I’m considering adding to my list:
[name_f][/name_f]Jane/Jeannette (Janie)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Coraline[/name_f] (Cora)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] (Cora)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clemency[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] (Georgie)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Estella[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

If you made it all the way through my book of a post, I appreciate it! TIA!

So many lovely names!! They’re all very pretty, [name_f][/name_f] it’s hard to choose favourites! I especially like [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Willemina[/name_f] since I don’t see them often! Because they’re a bit more unexpected they also have more personality [name_f][/name_f]— I clearly picture the charmingly twee, sunny and vintage vibe of them! Whereas with something like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f], while lovely, they’re quite everyday names so I don’t quite get the same feeling you do from them.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] does strike me as a bit different from the others on your list – more contemporary trendy, rather than vintage, but it absolutely can work as a sister name to [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

On [name_f]Willemina[/name_f]: [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] 100% works as a nickname for [name_f]Willemina[/name_f]! Although, I will note that the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] variant of the name doesn’t match the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation since its W is pronounced like a softer [name_f]English[/name_f] V. Maybe you’d like the similar but [name_f]English[/name_f] [name_f]Willamina[/name_f] or [name_f]Williamina[/name_f]?

[name_f][/name_f]

From your “maybes” I’d add to the list [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Clemency[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]!

You have a beautiful list!! I don’t think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] are too common to retain a distinctive feeling, personally. (They’re both on my list!) [name_f]Love[/name_f] your description of [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! Agree though that [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] feels a bit like an odd one out here, more modern in a group of classic/timeless names.

[name_f][/name_f]

I second the suggestions of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]! Maybe also:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

Imagining some fun sibling pairs from your list:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Tibby[/name_f] (love this nickname!!)

[name_f][/name_f]

Some first and middle combos, just for fun:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Willemina[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Willemina[/name_f]

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry! You have such a lovely list so far – my personal favorites are [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (I love Wordsworth’s “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” as well!), [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], & [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. From your “considering” list, I really think [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], & [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] would fit perfectly with your other girls!

[name_f][/name_f]

Some sibling sets:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] & [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] – “Pippa & Georgie”
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Juniper[/name_f], & [name_f]Opal[/name_f] – “Bea, [name_f]Junie[/name_f], & Opal”
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], & [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] – “Dottie, [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], & Emma”
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], & [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] & [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] – “Meg & Lily”
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] – “Willa, [name_f]Beth[/name_f], & Cora”
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Judith[/name_f] & [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mercy[/name_f] & [name_f]Clemency[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Estella[/name_f] & [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] – “Cora & Beth”

wow, you have a lovely list!!
[name_f][/name_f]Favourites
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Dorothy[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] I [name_f]Dollie[/name_f] is my favourite nn, but I don’t think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a massive stretch (obviously it would be more intuitive for [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], but I don’t like her as much).
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rose[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] I One of my favourite names of all time, I definitely prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- you can’t beat the sweet simplicity!
[name_f][/name_f]Susanna/h[name_f][/name_f] I I can never decide which spelling I prefer! [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] is adorable, she makes me think of the baby from A Series of Unfortunate Events[name_f][/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Emmeline[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] I I’m not such a fan of the full name but [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] is so precious, one of my favourite nns ever.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cecily[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] I I’m just obsessed with the frilly pink Victorian-ness of this one.
[name_f][/name_f]For the record, [name_f]Louise[/name_f] isn’t my favourite name, but I prefer it to [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] by a lot! From your ‘considering’ list I like [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f][/name_f]

Here are my thoughts on your list:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (Pippa): This seems like your girl if she’s been your favorite since you were seven! I totally agree that [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] is elegant and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is perfectly spunky. Very fun and fairly unique choice.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (Bea): I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! It’s a complete perfect balance of a little bookish girl who also enjoys skipping in a field of wild flowers. [name_f]My[/name_f] sweet dog is [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], so I’m a little biased!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (Dottie, [name_f]Dollie[/name_f], Thea): I like it. It’s oddly navy blue to me though, not yellow. Funny, right? I do prefer the more complete sounding [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]. That way you could get the nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f], which is my favorite but kind of a stretch for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. I don’t love [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] or Dollie…I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], but is that too much of a stretch?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (Rosie)/Rosemary (Rose, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], Romy)-I much prefer simple elegant [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. Something about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] doesn’t sit right with me; I just don’t love the feeling of it, but that’s just opinion. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is perfect. If you want something a little more sing songy than [name_f]Rose[/name_f], there’s also [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (Daisy, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or Meg): I like your description here. [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is not my favorite. I find it a bit too fussy. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] though! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is too stretch-y as a nn for my tastes, but [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is perfect. I also love [name_f]Gerty[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

Susanna(h) (Zuzu, [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], Zanna(h)): I am very much an ‘h’-less person. Which is funny, because I’d scoff at [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] without the ‘h’! [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is lovely, and I especially love that it means ‘lily’. [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] is such a sweet nn. [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] is fun; I can see it. I don’t love the sound of [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] for some reason. There’s also [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Scout[/name_f] & [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

Diana-I don’t know…I should like this, but it just reminds me of a mom in the 80s when I was a young kid.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Willemina[/name_f] (Winnie, [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f] or Billie)-Winnie is not too much of a stretch at all. I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]! I prefer [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], but if [name_f]Willemina[/name_f] is a legit spelling, it does make more sense actually.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (Emmie, Emma): I don’t like [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] at all, but [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is pretty. I like the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] a lot.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] (June, Junie)-That’s fun. Kind of artsy & quirky. Oddly popular in my area. I hear this a ton.

[name_f][/name_f]

Lucy-Lucy is completely lovable.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (Lucy): I can see liking [name_f]Louise[/name_f] more than [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I like both; actually like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] the best if that’s an option. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] seems sort of off to me, since it’s more of a ‘z’ sound vs. a ‘c’ sound. I like the nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] though.

[name_f][/name_f]

Cecily-It’s cute, but doesn’t sparkle as much as some of the others.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (Tibby, Beth): I like it in theory more than the actual sound. [name_f][/name_f] Really like the nn [name_f]Tabby[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] my rambling helps.

How exciting! You have lots of great names on your list [name_f][/name_f] already.

[name_f][/name_f]

The ones jumping out at me are [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], and [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! I love your explanations and reasoning with each too.

[name_f][/name_f]

Jeanette/Jane, [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Lorna[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] feel like they could easily fit into your current list as well!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] list!

[name_f][/name_f]

Thoughts:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] “Pippa” → classy but zippy, a hint of rough and tumble, but elegant too. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] “Bea” → sweet and cheerful, a little sass, but quiet too

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “Dottie” “Dollie” → I love the wild yet cosy feel, that poetic, clunky-sweet feel of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]! [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is so cute

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] → a solid yet sleek name. I prefer other [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- variants to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but it is nevertheless cottage-core and vintage [name_f][/name_f]- and nickname [name_f]Romy[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] → I enjoy the way you describe it as ‘elegant with bounce’ [name_f][/name_f]- it does have that regal yet energetic feel, refined, with a bit of mischief.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] → sunny, strong and elegant

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Diana[/name_f] → I personally find it quite harsh, but it is refined and regal.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Willemina[/name_f] → love [name_f]Willemina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- so sweet yet strong, clunky-cute, and charming, I don’t think [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is a stretch! I love [name_f]Mina[/name_f] and [name_f]Billie[/name_f] too

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] → sleek, strong and sweet. Which pronunciation do you use? -LINE, -LEEN, -LIN? I like [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] but [name_f]Emma[/name_f] kind of flattens it for me :person_shrugging:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] → cheerful and zippy with a fresh feel

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] → love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (alas, my cousin’s name so it’s not on my list :frowning:[name_f][/name_f] ) It has plenty of strength and gentleness, seriousness and spark, simplicity and elegance. It reminds me of one of my favourite books too

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] → it would be a surprise to meet a little [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and I quite like that about it. It does have a sweet but sharp sound

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] → warm and friendly, with a hint of cool charm.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] → clunky cute, and [name_f]Tibby[/name_f] is so fun!

[name_f][/name_f]

From your ‘considering’ list:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] / [name_f]Jeannette[/name_f] → I prefer classic [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and nickname [name_f]Janie[/name_f], for it’s simple elegance and literary vibe

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Judith[/name_f] → strong and distinctive but familiar. It reminds me of another favourite book, and nickname [name_m]Jude[/name_m] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] → sharp and interesting

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] → love [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- do you say it as ‘NEEL’ or ‘NELL’? It’s clunky and distinctive

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] → a favourite [name_f][/name_f]- beautiful imagery and sound

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] → I like it for a middle name

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Clemency[/name_f] → I’ve always quite enjoyed the sound of this [name_f][/name_f]- it has a hint of whimsy but carries something profound about it

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lorna[/name_f] → distinctive sound with a sharp edge that appeals to me

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] / [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] → I prefer [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- sharp but sweet. [name_f][/name_f] I think you could do something like [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Violette[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] etc. nn [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] too?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Estella[/name_f] → bright, literary and sparkly

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

Some sibsets:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Estella[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Willemina[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] (too Wordsworth maybe?)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clemency[/name_f] and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

A few more suggestions:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celeste[/name_f] / [name_f]Celestina[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celine[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lillia[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadine[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Merrily[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Albertine[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Paulina[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marceline[/name_f] / Marcelline ‘Minnie’
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clarice[/name_f]

I also love [name_f]Louise[/name_f] over [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]I also love [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Juniper[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Lorna[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]. [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] is somehow pretty, but I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] more.

You have such a lovely list!
[name_f][/name_f]From your list I think most names would work to make a nice set. I’d probably go with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]. Although for you I’d probably swap [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] for [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] as it’s your favourite.
[name_f][/name_f]As others have said [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] probably stands out the most but I think the nicknames, [name_f]June[/name_f] and [name_f]Junie[/name_f] fit perfectly. I share quite a few names on my list with yours, [name_f]Juniper[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] being just some of them. I’m a fan of the slightly mismatched sets.
[name_f][/name_f]Some more ideas:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cosette[/name_f]

Thanks to everyone for their lovely replies!

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m pleasantly surprised that several of you prefer [name_f]Louise[/name_f] to [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (I do like both, but [name_f]Louise[/name_f] more).

[name_f][/name_f]

I had wondered if [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] might seem a little different from my others’, and it looks like at least some people agree. Does she seem like a compatible style at least, or too different?

[name_f][/name_f]

Oh, and my boys list is up now! My Not Quite As Long Boys' List

[name_f][/name_f]

(I am going to try to respond individually to everyone, too )

Thank you!

[name_f][/name_f]

I’ve seen the [name_f]Willamina[/name_f] spelling a few times before but wasn’t sure if it was “real” or not. Maybe I’ll have to reconsider it! It probably would be the easiest in [name_f]English[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

I love so many of your suggestions here. Particularly, [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f], [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] are standing out to me.

I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

Those are all beautiful combos, but I’m especially loving [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f], and [name_f]Willemina[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and Cecily/Meg and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is such a great pairing! I hadn’t every thought of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] for [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] before. I’m also really liking [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgette[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Juniper[/name_f], and [name_f]Opal[/name_f].

Thanks! I think that is what I keep coming back to with Rose-it’s so lovely in its on simplicity, why add to it?

I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but it’s already taken in my circle!

I think [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] might be growing on me. [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Dovie[/name_f] from its meaning is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I’m thinking [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] “Dovie” might be a more usable substitute. I also like [name_f]Verity[/name_f].

Your detailed ramblings are very helpful [name_f][/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

I have a name that is sometimes spelled with an h and sometimes without, mine being the h version, and I think that’s part of what keeps me from committing to h-less [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] even though I think I like it a little better [name_f][/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m really liking your suggestion of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].

[name_f]Love[/name_f] all the detailed comments!

[name_f][/name_f]

I pronounce [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] as LINE, and [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] as NEEL.

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m really liking [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Willemina[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], and [name_f]Clemency[/name_f] and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] from your sibsets, and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] from your suggestions.

Thank you! [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] is a name I’ve thought of as kind of dated until recently when I started seeing it as more French/pink/ballerina, and I wasn’t sure if other people might see it that way, so it’s nice to see some love for it!
