My poor, neglected boys' list

I feel like I spend most of my time here talking about girls’ names, so I wanted to get your thoughts on my boys’ list. Which would you keep and which would you cut? Based on what’s listed below, what suggestions would you make? Give it to me straight, berries!

[name]Milo[/name]: I’m not loving this one as much anymore, however
[name]Xavier[/name]: I pronounce this “zay-vee-er”, which I know may be weird

[name]Samuel[/name] - [name]Love[/name], just a classic

[name]Linus[/name] - I love this too, it seems like just quirky enough to work

[name]Elliott[/name] - [name]Love[/name], I prefer it without the second t though because it makes it look more feminine

[name]August[/name] - I like it, very handsome

[name]Gabriel[/name] - [name]Love[/name], very stylish

[name]Milo[/name]: sorry but I don’t like this one, seems more like a pets name to me

[name]Xavier[/name]: I have heard that pronunciation before so it is not weird to me

[name]Julien[/name] - NMS, all I see is [name]Julie[/name]

[name]Oliver[/name] - Its really growing on me

[name]Hugo[/name] - I strongly prefer [name]Hugh[/name]

I would drop [name]Milo[/name], [name]Julien[/name] and maybe [name]Hugo[/name]

[name]Samuel[/name]-Great name that will never go out of style
[name]Linus[/name]-My favorite on your list. Quirky but familiar with a strong meaning in lion and a cuddly image from Peanuts.
[name]Elliott[/name]-Not a bad name but I’d cut it. Has a terminal nerdiness attached.
[name]August[/name]-Cut, almost sure to be nicknamed [name]Gus[/name].
[name]Gabriel[/name]-Cut, same deal as with [name]August[/name] only here it would end up being [name]Gabe[/name]. I’m not a big fan of nns
[name]Milo[/name]: Becoming overused along with [name]Miles[/name].
[name]Xavier[/name]: Only as a middle name.
[name]Julien[/name]-Okay name although not a personal favorite it has also lost a lot of appeal by overuse.
[name]Oliver[/name]-Keep. A solid name
[name]Hugo[/name]-A distinctive choice with the cool o ending. [name]Hugh[/name] is also a fine name.

[name]Samuel[/name]: Classic, can’t-go-wrong standard.
[name]Linus[/name]: NMS, I always picture a nerd.
[name]Elliott[/name]: One of the few surnames I like as a first name.
[name]August[/name]: Handsome.
[name]Gabriel[/name]: I should love this but I just don’t. It doesn’t start out well and doesn’t end any better, and I just don’t like the nn [name]Gabe[/name] either.
[name]Milo[/name]: Neutral on this. I knew a [name]Milo[/name] once and he was hilarious so he gives points to the name.
[name]Xavier[/name]: THANK YOU for this pronunciation. I think EX-avier is simply obnoxious. Which probably actually makes ME the weird one!
[name]Julien[/name]: Always sounds feminine to me.
[name]Oliver[/name]: Partial to this name. It’s manly, charming, and underused.
[name]Hugo[/name]: I really want to love this one but I never can decide if I like it. I just can’t put my finger on what’s wrong. I generally like it when others use it though.

[name]Samuel[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]. [name]Sam[/name] just makes me smile. I think it’s so timeless and I love its Biblical ties. It’s a great choice.

[name]Linus[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Linus[/name], too. I’ve been thinking about it as a FN, and it’s currently a MN on my list ([name]Avery[/name] [name]Linus[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]) but that combo could change in the near future.

[name]Elliott[/name] - love this name, too, and I’ve been considering it several places as a MN, but I vastly prefer the [name]Elliot[/name] spelling.

[name]August[/name] - love. Apparently I just love your whole list. [name]Jack[/name] [name]August[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is my second favorite boys’ name, so this one is a bit more special to me.

[name]Gabriel[/name] - love this, too. I like the nn [name]Gabe[/name] a lot. It’s so handsome for a boy.

[name]Milo[/name] - I like this a lot. Much more than [name]Miles[/name], anyway! It’s so quirky and interesting. I don’t know why this is often used as a nn for [name]Miles[/name], since I can see this aging just as well (if not more!) than [name]Miles[/name] does. It’s perfect.

[name]Xavier[/name] - haha, I love @saracita00’s commentary for this. I say [name]Xavier[/name] this way, too. I like it in theory, but every time I see [name]Xavier[/name] in a combo, I sorta cringe. For some reason, I don’t really like it paired with anything–both as a FN or a MN! I know a mom who has an ADORABLE little boy named [name]Ethan[/name] [name]Xavier[/name], though, and I actually don’t mind that…

[name]Julien[/name] - Lots of times I love French variations, but in this case, I think it makes [name]Julian[/name] look more feminine. Lots of people find [name]Julian[/name] girly (I don’t), but changing it to [name]Julien[/name] feminizes it to me.

[name]Oliver[/name] - I like it. I used to not see its appeal, and I still much prefer [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] on girls to [name]Oliver[/name] on a boy, but it’s handsome, and quirky. My only association to the name is [name]Oliver[/name] on the Canadian TV show Rookie [name]Blue[/name], and he is hilarious there. So I have a good association to it now.

[name]Hugo[/name] - I can see its appeal, but it seems perennially grown up. I like [name]Hugh[/name] better, but I prefer both as MNs.

[name]Samuel[/name], [name]Linus[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], and [name]August[/name] are my favorites!

Good luck!
